'What you were in the army?' is the most common reaction on hearing that this somewhat puny, less than athletic Johnny Wallman served in the Israeli army. Johnny Wallman left behind the relative comfort of his English life for a life in Israel and the Israeli army. Zahal: A Love Story is the story of a love affair with a country and its people. A love affair of beauty yet pain, where hope turned to disappointment. Thirty years on, finally, many of the scars have faded leaving memories of true friendships, inspiration and a beautiful country. This is an honest and intimate account of a time in Israel, a country of crazy paradoxes, ironies and contradictions, a country genuinely seeking peace with its neighbours and itself. Profits from this novel will be given to the 'Lone Soldier Centre' helping soldiers without families in Israel.

I decided to spend 2019, each month, taking trips to places I had always wanted to visit. From the poignant visit to my uncle's World War One grave near Gueudcourt France to Saint Exupery Airport in Lyon, named after the author of 'The Little Prince', my favourite book. From Basel to Blackpool to Bondi, Bancourt to Berlin, Krakow to Kfar Blum to Canberra and Melbourne, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Amsterdam, Annan Scotland. These trips, covering over 35,000 miles, became my travel bucket list. In addition to these trips the year was filled with memorable events from VIP Manchester City hospitality to Pink Floyd cover band concerts, Alzheimer's charity walk and more. With fantastic experiences and memories. I hope that through my stories, you can feel the highs and lows, the deep emotions. Along with the tales of my experiences are travel tips should you too decide to visit the destinations.

Almost Naked is a collection of over fifty beautiful and poignant poems by Johnny Wallman Naked, nowadays its pictures of genitals on the internet, but when I'm talking to you about my fears, my goals, my hopes, my memories of myself as a kid, as an adult, my dreams, my sadness, my confusion, my happiness, my loves, my anger, my joys, just everything about my sometimes miserable self, that's what feeling naked really is to me.

Nearly joined up writing is a collection of twenty-three short stories previously published in various magazines and anthologies by Johnny Wallman. Teenager in Love and The Search tell the story of his adoption as a baby and the search for his birth family. Goodbye Spring Vale and Schools Out for Summer are the stories of his naive teenage years and failure through the education system. Fetch Yer Cloth and Supermarket Sweep describe his time in retail, working in a family business and for a major supermarket chain. In Stella and Farah Johnny Wallman recalls his time living in Israel and the some of the dilemas and paradoxes serving in the Israeli army. Single Life, Frank and Angry Old Man are funny, irreverent stories on where he has been and is likely to be in the future. The collection ends with A New Life on the Lake, previously unpublished Johnny Wallman tells of where quite often he really would like to be.

This book focuses on the nature of Israeli politics in the 'post-Begin' era. It examines significant contemporary issues such as the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon; the harnessing of the enormous inflation rate; the escalating tension between religious and secular Israeli Jews; the widening influence of radical right wing activist Rabbi Meir Kahane; the fluctuating relationship between Israel and the U.S.; the survival of the Likud Party; and changes in national electoral strategies of the major parties. It places recent events in Israeli politics in a historical context and suggests what the implications of these events might be for the future.
