'Dominatrix' (Volume 2), is an exploration into the largely hidden world of the sadomasochistic female, along with Volume 1, it offers the definitive and most broad-ranging international study of the subject ever undertaken. Conducted over a 10-year period, by the BDSM magazine publisher and writer, Roy Turner, these eBooks offer a full, frank and totally unique insight into the real world of the dominatrix, those who work within the 'sex industry', as well as those who live out the 'Fem/Dom' lifestyle in private. In Volume 2, we meet the Antwerp-based; 'Mistress Shane', who is an unrepentant Sadist-managing to combine a passion for strap-on dildos and equal opportunity multi-gender sex with a weakness for romantic fiction and a love of the opera and antiques! Hear how 'Mistress Gen' of band 'The Genitorturers', shocked and enthralled audiences with her notorious live stage show-a combination of a rock concert and an extremely fetishistic sex show, busting taboos in cities all over the world-except Cincinnati! Meet, Patricia de Gifford, who now reigns as 'Supreme Highest Administrator' in one of the most bizarre and ambitious endeavours in the Fem/Dom stratosphere, the legendary 'Other World Kingdom', or OWK for short. Located in the Czech Republic, the OWK has created a veritable country of 'dominant women' and male 'subject-slaves', complete with palaces, farms, even their own currency and, of course, plenty of prisons! Authentically re-enact your schooldays with 'Miss Prim', who works exclusively within the world of 'adult' schoolboy and schoolgirl fantasy scenarios, in her role as headmistress of the 'Muir Academy', in South Wales. 'Nanny Lilly' has devoted herself to the nurturing and (when needed) the chastisement of her 'Big Baby' charges. Here she shares her experiences and understanding of this little known area of eroticism, providing along the way a fascinating insight into the world of the 'adult baby'. Get the truth about Sara Dale, who achieved a degree of infamy some years ago as the 'Miss Whiplash' character in the scandal surrounding property rented out by a then British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Norman Lamont. Unusually, she switches in her role-playing, that is she enjoys playing both the dominant and submissive roles in her unique approach to tantric sex and counselling. Also discover the bizarre, yet enchanting world of female dominance that exists in 'Aristasia' with ambassadress Miss Marianne Martindale, a world of bygone charm and elegance that ignores all events that have occurred since 1960-including the calendar! There are, in all, five or six Aristasian households scattered around Britain. The embassy is the only one that may be visited by a male outsider, and then only by invitation. Miss Martindale, as ambassadress and spokeswoman, is the only Aristasian who will communicate with the outside world. Plus, many other revealing interviews with professional and lifestyle mistresses including the Americans; The Reverend Kellie Everts, Lady Latex, Lady Green, Domina Irene Boss. The UK's; Tanith Au Set, Janus, Mistresses; 'R', Ash, Christine, and Amber. Sub/Dom couples; Chrystalle & Guy, Christine & David, Linda & Gary. Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable. It is intended for an adult audience.

With actress Pam Grier's breakthrough in Coffy and Foxy Brown, women entered action, science fiction, war, westerns and martial arts films--genres that had previously been considered the domain of male protagonists. This ground-breaking cinema, however, was--and still is--viewed with ambivalence. While women were cast in new and exciting roles, they did not always arrive with their femininity intact, often functioning both as a sexualized spectacle and as a new female hero rather than female character. This volume contains an in-depth critical analysis and study of the female hero in popular film from 1970 to 2006. It examines five female archetypes: the dominatrix, the Amazon, the daughter, the mother and the rape-avenger. The entrance of the female hero into films written by, produced by and made for men is viewed through the lens of feminism and post-feminism arguments. Analyzed works include films with actors Michelle Yeoh and Meiko Kaji, the Alien films, the Lara Croft franchise, Charlie's Angels, and television productions such as Xena: Warrior Princess and Alias.

*One of Glamour’s Best Books of 2020* Popular podcast host and personal finance expert Lindsay Goldwert explores what professional dominatrixes can teach us about confidence, power, and happiness. Imagine, for a moment, a world where the usual power dynamic is turned on its head. Where women not only stop apologizing, but seize—and enjoy—control. This is the quickly mainstreaming world of BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadism, masochism)—and it has a lot to teach women about empowerment, negotiation, open-mindedness, and more. Journalist Lindsay Goldwert, intrigued by this seismic cultural shift, traveled across the United States to meet the stars of the subculture, who spoke frankly with her about their lives and work. In this “lively, funny, thoughtful channeling of wisdom” (Sara Benincasa, author of Real Artists Have Day Jobs), these Alpha women show you how you can reset the power dynamic in any situation to get what you want—whether it’s from a husband, a boss, or partner. They share strategies for revolutionizing not only your sex life, but your career, your relationships, and most importantly, your inner foundations. With bondage gear popping up on the big screen, the runway, the red carpet, and in celebrity lingerie lines, BDSM is officially moving out of the dungeon and into the sun. Let Bow Down help you learn how to use it. “Whether your fantasies lie in the bedroom or the boardroom, Lindsay will give you the courage to go forth and dominate.” (Sarah Cooper, author of How to Be Successful without Hurting Men’s Feelings).

The rhetorical power of camp in American popular culture Making Camp examines the rhetoric and conventions of “camp” in contemporary popular culture and the ways it both subverts and is co-opted by mainstream ideology and discourse, especially as it pertains to issues of gender and sexuality. Camp has long been aligned with gay male culture and performance. Helene Shugart and Catherine Waggoner contend that camp in the popular media—whether visual, dramatic, or musical—is equally pervasive. While aesthetic and performative in nature, the authors argue that camp—female camp in particular—is also highly political and that conventions of femininity and female sexuality are negotiated, if not always resisted, in female camp performances. The authors draw on a wide range of references and figures representative of camp, both historical and contemporary, in presenting the evolution of female camp and its negotiation of gender, political, and identity issues. Antecedents such as Joan Crawford, Wonder Woman, Marilyn Monroe, and Pam Grier are discussed as archetypes for contemporary popular culture figures—Macy Gray, Gwen Stefani, and the characters of Xena from Xena: Warrior Princess and Karen Walker from Will & Grace. Shugart and Waggoner find that these and other female camp performances are liminal, occupying a space between conformity and resistance. The result is a study that demonstrates the prevalence of camp as a historical and evolving phenomenon in popular culture, its role as a site for the rupture of conventional notions of gender and sexuality, and how camp is configured in mainstream culture and in ways that resist its being reduced to merely a style.
