Edgar Award Nominee for Best First Novel Named a New York Times Best Thriller of 2021 "I devoured this riveting book through a day of travel...My desire to rush to the end clashed with my desire to savor every word. Who would be the last psychopath standing?” — New York Times Book Review "Fresh, fast-paced and fiendishly clever! If you love watching true crime and wonder about the psychopaths among us, this is the book for you!" — Lisa Gardner, #1 New York Times bestselling author You should never trust a psychopath. But what if you had no choice? It would be easy to underestimate Chloe Sevre… She’s a freshman honor student, a legging-wearing hot girl next door, who also happens to be a psychopath. She spends her time on yogalates, frat parties and plotting to kill Will Bachman, a childhood friend who grievously wronged her. Chloe is one of seven students at her DC-based college who are part of an unusual clinical study of psychopaths—students like herself who lack empathy and can’t comprehend emotions like fear or guilt. The study, led by a renowned psychologist, requires them to wear smart watches that track their moods and movements. When one of the students in the study is found murdered in the psychology building, a dangerous game of cat and mouse begins, and Chloe goes from hunter to prey. As she races to identify the killer and put her own plan for revenge into action, she’ll be forced to decide if she can trust any of her fellow psychopaths—and everybody knows you should never trust a psychopath.

Vivian Laster Dillingham md was born in the city of Chicago, Illinois, in the year 1939, and she attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the Harold Washington College. She grew up in the old neighborhoods where the people enjoyed their differences, and this is greatly depicted in her work as an artist and an author. As well, she exhibited her works in the Hermann Hall Gallery of the Illinois Institute of Technology and the Little Black Pearl in Chicago. Some of her paintings are as far away as Greece. She is the author of a book called Plain Prose and Poetry. Inspired to write by the Creator, there are things she feels all should be privileged to know and understand, since these thoughts enrich lives and give a deeper understanding to all that are capable of deep thoughts, knowing that there is more than just one way to solve a problem. So books written by her clear your mind and free your thoughts and make you come along on a journey that will lead to an eternity.

Kiatana's young son, Keanu, and his animal companion, Allie, have been abducted from their home, a target of a horrible plot to devastate the realm. Allie is a shifter being with the ability to predict the future and give prophecies, capable of manifesting immense magical power. A villain with malicious intentions desires to use Allie’s abilities to take over the realm, and become ruler of all. Another quest is undertaken, to find the young prince and his companion in order to bring them back to the forest. But discovering where the children have been taken is far from easy, as the obstacles they face are perilous and many. The elves have risen up against Kiatana, and to make matters worse, her memory has been lost along the path, making it so she can’t remember her husband, child, or who she is. To save the children they love, one of Kiatana's friends must be sacrificed. Death is approaching, and afterward, nothing will ever be the same…
