It is a challenging task to read the balance sheet of an insurance company. This derives from the fact that different positions are often measured by different yardsticks. Assets, for example, are mostly valued at market prices whereas liabilities are often measured by established actuarial methods. However, there is a general agreement that the balance sheet of an insurance company should be measured in a consistent way. Market-Consistent Actuarial Valuation presents powerful methods to measure liabilities and assets in a consistent way. The mathematical framework that leads to market-consistent values for insurance liabilities is explained in detail by the authors. Topics covered are stochastic discounting with deflators, valuation portfolio in life and non-life insurance, probability distortions, asset and liability management, financial risks, insurance technical risks, and solvency.

A series of twenty-one original triangular lithographs (with narrative captions) which may be displayed in a helical scroll of linked tetrahedra. They were executed during the years 1975 and 1976 under the guiding light of Tatyana Grosman (to whom Fuller had been introduced by Edwin Schlossberg) at her ULAE print workshop in West Islip, Long Island. In something of a publishing innovation this trade book was brought out concurrently with a limited edition of the signed original lithographs. Michael Denneny was the editorial impresario at St. Martin's and Ronald Feldman Fine Arts handled the exhibition of the lithographs. Fuller composed the Tetrascroll between the publication of Synergetics in 1975 and Synergetics 2 in 1979. He had been frustrated by the rigid structure of the synergetics books which, despite certain advantages, he felt robbed the work of spontaneity and narrative force. To compensate for this Fuller worked feverishly on the Tetrascroll as a free-form obbligato to the synergetics books. He explained to me at the time, "The empirical, the scientific way to present the argument of synergetics is the way I am doing it in Goldilocks. By setting up unexpected dialogues between historic and contemporary artists working in a myriad of mediatextile, painting, sculpture, photography and collageOlowu reveals a shared preoccupation with themes of gender, race, beauty, sexuality and the body. Widely known for his vibrant paintings that employ a variety of styles--including abstraction, figuration, pop, and cartoon--Carroll Dunham (b. 1949) is also one of the most prolific printmakers of his generation. An integral part of his artistic process, Dunham's prints combine the spontaneity and drama of his paintings with the careful premeditation demanded of the medium. His imagery--which shares the wickedly cartoony semi-abstractions of his paintings--is transformed, refined, and often intensified in his graphic work. Carroll Dunham Printsdocuments the artist's entire print archive--which includes nearly 300 lithographs, etchings, drypoints, linocuts, wood engravings, screenprints, digital prints, and most recently, monotypes--the majority of which have never before been published. The authors examine the significance of printmaking to Dunham's overall oeuvre, his innate sensitivity toward the systematic materials and procedures of printmaking, his inventive approach to this process, and the evolution of his imagery. It also features an insightful essay by Dunham that discusses his journey as a printmaker and his discoveries of the medium.

Endocrinology is a beautifully realized, uniquely collaborative book incorporating Berssenbrugge's inquiring words tn both typographic and handwritten form within the visual environment created by Smith's textural, organically-derived drawings.
