Photochemistry reviews photo-induced processes that have relevance to the above wide-ranging academic and commercial desciplines, and interests in chemistry, physics, biology and technology. In order to provide easy access to this vast and varied literature, Photochemistry comprises sections sub-divided by chromophore and reaction type, and also a comprehensive section on polymer photochemistry. Throughout emphasis is placed on useful applications of photochemistry. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage in major areas of chemical research and are compiled by teams of leading experts - a unique service for the active research chemist.

Chemistry International is a four-chapter news magazine of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Chapters 1 and 2 contain the membership lists and alphabetical index of IUPAC bodies 1983-1985. Chapter 3 lists all official programs ofthe Union in operation in its special Committees and in Commissions of the Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Macromolecular, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, and Clinical Chemistry Divisions. The last chapter presents the minutes of the 32nd Council Meeting.

Photochemistry — 7 is a collection of plenary lectures presented at the Seventh Symposium on Photochemistry held in Leuven, Belgium, on July 24-28, 1978. Contributors explore a wide range of topics relating to photochemistry, including the chemistry of exciplexes and the photo-oxidation of polymers. Excited state electron-transfer reactions of transition metal complexes are also discussed, along with the photochemistry of diazocompounds and azides in argon. This volume is comprised of 12 chapters and begins with a review of the role of exciplex intermediates in photocycloadditions involving polyenes and excited anthracenes. The reader is then introduced to the use of photochemical conversion of one molecule into another as an approach to the synthesis of natural products. The following chapters focus on the use of the Linear Combination of Fragment Configurations approach to generate qualitative potential energy surfaces; reciprocal interactions of polymers with excited solutes or polymer-bound chromophores; photochemistry of some three-membered heterocycles; cis-trans photoisomerization of 4-nitrostilbenes; and electron transfer in monolayer assemblies. This monograph will be of value to chemists.

Photochemical processes form the basis of life. Energy transfer through photons also underlies a wide range of phenomena ranging from the motion of atoms and molecules to the assembly of systems of molecules, such as polymers, Langmuir-Blodgett films and even liquid crystals.Photochemical Processes in Organized Molecular Systems provides an overview of recent photochemical investigations of systems of molecules. The book is divided into four parts: the first two deal with current progress on the understanding of photoinduced chemical processes, the third and fourth chapter deal with the photochemistry of organized molecular systems including polymers, micelles and liquid crystals. This book should be studied by all who want to know more about this promising field of photochemical research, and about the fascinating processes that light can bring about.
