The author discovered that a need for a thorough analysis of statistical method was needed where various research presented contradictory results due to different statistical methods and measurements. Many physicists, including the author, felt that so much concentration upon mathematical precision resulted in the question of the precise connection of the theory with practical problems being neglected. Physicists, in particular experimental physicists, were forced to develop for themselves the methods of practical appilcation by translating highly technical work into their own language. The author selected at random a few cases of erroneous applications of statistics found in the literature to present in this work, outlining the struggle between the requirements of the pure mathematician and the practical physicist.
