The emergence of the modern Zionist Movement was driven by the search for a homeland in Palestine for the stateless and persecuted Jewish People. The organized migration and settlement of Jewish people under the banner of the World Zionist Organization trampled the fundamental rights of Palestine People and continuously rejected their statehood. The rejectionist policy practiced by Zionists and the State of Israel explains the persistence of the Palestine question. This book devotes to examine the historical origin and evolution of Arab-Israeli conflict from 1881, the year of first Aliya, to the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. It investigates socio-political and cultural aspects of the conflict with an emphasis on the historical factors. The book offers a comprehensive and comprehensible analysis of the History of Palestine.

In this volume, scholars specializing in different dimensions of foreign-policy analysis examine the dynamics of India's international relations. The volume reviews the economic growth that has propelled it to the status of a globally recognized power, and examines its nuclear policy and maritime strategy as a register of its present capabilities and future aspirations. The news media, often neglected in the study of international politics, are studied as an important index to-and catalysis for-the formulation of government policies. The volume also comprehensively analyses India's bilateral and multilateral relations, their influence on the stability of the subcontinent, their bearing on the country's international presence, and their relevance for its political ambitions.

Two Crises, Different Outcomes examines East Asian policy reactions to the two major crises of the last fifteen years: the global financial crisis of 2008–9 and the Asian financial crisis of 1997–98. The calamity of the late 1990s saw a massive meltdown concentrated in East Asia. In stark contrast, East Asia avoided the worst effects of the Lehman Brothers collapse, incurring relatively little damage when compared to the financial devastation unleashed on North America and Europe. Much had changed across the intervening decade, not least that China rather than Japan had become the locomotive of regional growth, and that the East Asian economies had taken numerous steps to buffer their financial structures and regulatory regimes. This time Asia avoided disaster; it bounced back quickly after the initial hit and has been growing in a resilient fashion ever since. The authors of this book explain how the earlier financial crisis affected Asian economies, why government reactions differed so widely during that crisis, and how Asian economies weathered the Great Recession. Drawing on a mixture of single-country expertise and comparative analysis, they conclude by assessing the long-term prospects that Asian countries will continue their recent success.

This volume focuses on ‘fittingness’ as an ethical-aesthetical idea, and in particular examines how the concept is beneficial for environmental ethics. It brings together an innovative set of contributions to argue that fittingness is a significant but under-investigated facet of human ethical deliberation with both ethical and aesthetic dimensions. In widely diverse matters – from architecture to table manners – individuals and communities make decisions based on ‘fittingness’, also expressed in related terms, such as appropriateness, prudence, temperance, and mutuality. In the realm of environmental ethics, fittingness denotes a relation between conscious embodied persons and their habitats and is of relevance to judgements about how humans shape, and take up with, the non-human environment, and hence to ethical decisions about the development and use of the environment and non-human creatures. As such, fittingness can be of great benefit in reframing human relationships to the non-human, stimulating a way of living in the world that is fitting to the preservation of its fruitfulness, goodness, beauty, and truth.
