Much has been written about the Brookes of Sarawak, rather less about the Anglican Mission. Very little has appeared about the interaction between the two. This painstaking and well-researched study, based on a wide variety of primary sources, especially hitherto unpublished letters, helpsto fill many of the existing gaps and is an admirable addition to scholarly knowledge of Sarawak under the White Rajahs and British missionary activity there.
