Pubs, the long established cornerstones of society as they once were and in particular the people who frequented them feature in this story about a darts team who did what so many pub teams did in days gone by, paid their subs religiously all season long to go on a "Ride out" with the money they'd saved, this story follows one such team through one hilarious calamity after another culminating in a "welcoming home gift" from the local haulage yard! For those who remember such antics and those who went into pubs and enjoyed the atmosphere this story's for you. Sadly most pubs have now gone so this book salutes those bygone days with a fond look back.

Why I Wrote This BookWhen I was young I lived in King's Point, Newfoundland. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth, but as a kid, I didn't see that beauty. As soon as I got the opportunity, I escaped to the big city. In retrospect, my early childhood was a life full of adventure. Now when I return periodically, I see it for what it is--a heaven on earth.Around Christmas time in 2014, I published a short story on a Facebook page hosted by my hometown. I received such positive feedback, I decided I would try to write a short story each week, for a full year. On the week before Christmas, 2015, I finished my fifty-second story. With much encouragement from my fellow citizens of King's Point, I have re-introduced them in this book. What I will attempt to do, is re-live along with you, some of the memories of growing up in a small town in the 1950s and 1960s. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did writing them.

(Applause Acting Series). A terrific take on theatre singing by a master teacher. "David Craig knows more about singing in the musical theatre than anyone in this country which probably means the world. Time and time again his advice and training have resulted in actors moving from non-musical theatre into musicals with ease and expertise. SHORT OF TAKING CLASSES, THIS BOOK IS A MUST." Harold Prince

"Often considered alienated from mainstream culture and consigned to negative environments, Afro-American writers have created alternative spatial and geographical metaphors to develop a positive sense of individual and cultural identity. Melvin Dixon demonstrates how three principal figures of the land--the wilderness, the underground, and the mountaintop--have become places of refuge and cultural revitalization for the performance of identity, from early slave songs and fugitive narratives to modern and contemporary fiction"--Jacket.
