The long-awaited war has come in the sweeping conclusion to the Lot Lands trilogy—another irresistibly swashbuckling, swaggering, foul-mouthed fantasy from the author of The Grey Bastards. “[A] rip-roaring, shelf-bending conclusion . . . nothing short of an adventure fantasy masterwork.”—Kirkus Reviews (Best Books of the Year) War has come to the Lot Lands—and Oats stands upon the frontline. The Hisparthan armies on the horizon are mighty, bolstered by divine champions, dread sorcerers, and gunpowder. It’s almost more than the half-orc rebellion can hope to repel. But Oats has won impossible fights before. He’s a thriceblood, after all, more orc than man. And he hasn’t forgotten how to kill. He’ll stack the bodies high for his chief and his brethren, if that’s the price of freeing the Lots from human tyranny. Besides, the invading forces are getting a damned sight more than they bargained for. They’re not facing a handful of half-orc hoofs, but a true army—one forged from all the peoples of the Lots. At its head are Fetching, in full command of the ruinous power that runs through her veins, and Jackal, armed with the blessings of a dead god. Yet Oats can’t help but find his faith wavering. Once the strongest Bastard, he soon realizes that in this battle, even the strength of a thriceblood is easily conquered. And after a grievous loss strikes, he begins to fear that this war will lead the Lots not to freedom but to ruin. So when another path to peace beckons, he has no choice but to walk it. Even if it means betting the Lots’ fate, and his own, on the promises of the Bastards’ wiliest adversary—and making a perilous journey into the heart of Hispartha itself. Brimming with all the epic battles, surprising sorcery, and fiendish twists a Bastards fan could wish for, alongside unforgettable moments for characters old and new, The Free Bastards builds a new future for the Lots—even as it gives our beloved trio of Jackal, Fetching, and Oats the rousing, blood-soaked sendoff they deserve.

Flight 816 has been hijacked and the terrorists have decided to auction off the passengers online. The passengers who receive the highest bids will be released. The passengers who receive the lowest bids will be executed. Life can’t be better for veteran pilot Larry Walder. He has a great job, a terrific kid, a gorgeous wife—and no inkling that tonight will be the end of the world as he knows it. In the early hours before the Fourth of July, three men break into Larry’s home. And as the day lurches on to its terrifying course, a life is taken, and Flight 816 from Atlanta to Cozumel, Mexico, vanishes off the radar. In the air, Larry must find a way to save his family, his crew, and his passengers. On the ground, disgraced FBI agent Xanadu Marx goes rogue, making it her mission to track down the missing flight before the hijackers reach their diabolical endgame. With the casualties racking up and the world’s busiest airport under lockdown, a message arrives: This is no ordinary hijacking, no typical hostage crisis. This ransom is a totally different beast—the first hint of a conspiracy that might bring America to its knees. Praise for Cost of Life “Joshua Corin is a master storyteller. Cost of Life is a thriller par excellence: brilliantly imaginative, well written, and delightfully diabolical. Highly recommended!”—Douglas Preston, #1 bestselling co-creator of the Pendergast novels “In Cost of Life, Joshua Corin turns a humdrum airline flight into a ride on an F-15 with a smoking engine—fast, terrifying, and oh so fun. I loved the writing. Corin’s whip-smart dialogue crashed me straight into a world of fascinating characters and complicated allegiances. I couldn’t stop reading until the wheels touched down on that final tarmac.”—Rebecca Cantrell, New York Times bestselling author of The World Beneath “Fraught with danger and surprises, Cost of Life is a tale chock-full of action, adventure, and intrigue. Treachery comes from all directions, so consider yourself warned.”—Steve Berry, New York Times bestselling author of The Lincoln Myth Don’t miss any of Joshua Corin’s electrifying Xanadu Marx thrillers: COST OF LIFE • FORGIVE ME • AMERICAN LIES

The concluding book of The Dandelion Dynasty begins immediately after the events of The Veiled Throne, in the middle of two wars on two lands among three people separated by an ocean yet held together by the invisible strands of love. Harried by Lyucu pursuers, Princess Théra and Pékyu Takval try to reestablish an ancestral dream even as their hearts grow in doubt. The people of Dara continue to struggle against the genocidal Lyucu as both nations vacillate between starkly contrasting visions for their futures. “Lawrence Schimel’s short stories ring contemporary changes into the romances and märchen that comprise the blueprints of our literary heritage. Schimel’s stories are both spry and sly, and the best of them are grounded in humor or pathos. Some of them are over almost before they start; this is good, for both in magic and desire there should always be more than meets the eye.”

Winner of Best Writer at The Stage Debut Awards 2023 "The men with the Piano look up the narrow staircase of our little flat and they turn to Dad, light their fags, and say; “We might have to take the windows out". A piano came through the sky and landed in Lylah's council flat, just for her. As she pours over the keys and sound floods into all the rooms, Lylah falls in love. At school, Lylah can't ask questions – she's got to be good, good, good or else she'll lose her scholarship. At home she can't ask questions; her cousins say she talks weird, and her parents are distracted. So she asks her piano: Where did you come from? Why are you here? And their shared history tumbles into the light. Part gig, part musical love story, part journey through Empire, this all-new expanded production of Olivier Award nominee Anoushka Lucas' “exquisite” (Evening Standard) Elephant transferred to the Bush Theatre's main house. This revised and expanded edition of the play accompanies the new 2023 production.

"Agatha the Beloved Queen" includes medieval fantasy, philosophical fiction, and erotic fiction. It is an adult fairy story, not a children's fairy story. The target audience is adults 18+ who admire strong women, sympathize with the common people in preference to the fabulously wealthy, and for whom occasional fantasy, a fairy godmother and an evil sorcerer, and a few explicit adult scenes will enliven a story. People who are socially and politically conservative probably won't like it. Queen Julia rules the mystical and medieval land of Xana in which fabulous wealth is concentrated in a tiny aristocracy and most of the common people are very poor. Her daughter, Princess Agatha, is champion of the commoners but does not have the power to correct the imbalance. The evil sorcerer Magi comes to Xana, kills the queen, and ravages aristocrats and commoners alike. Her fairy godmother comes to Agatha and says that if she identifies her handsome prince incognito in the crowd on her very first try and makes love to him (just kissing is not enough), Magi will be destroyed. But she will not have a second chance. Agatha succeeds, and now as queen devotes her entire reign to devising economic and social methods to bring prosperity to all. She must deal with corruption on her own council of advisers, a vicious usurer, the school bully, brutal bandits on the frontier, and invasion by an army much larger than her own. She nurtures several children with humble backgrounds into adult greatness. In Agatha we discover an inspired princess who becomes a wise queen with a destiny, a mission to bring prosperity to every person in her medieval land. Agatha has infinite compassion for the downtrodden, a work ethic that inspires work ethic in her people. She loves children and children love her. She has zero tolerance for abusive behavior; when it happens she stops it real fast. To put the proverbial icing on the cake, Agatha and her handsome prince are both sexually insatiable - with each other. The methods used by Queen Agatha in the fifteenth century to bring prosperity to all may also work in our 21st century. However, some readers may disagree that her methods were wise and wholesome. The author leaves that decision to you.

One of the Time 100 Best Fantasy Books Of All Time Two men rebel together against tyranny—and then become rivals—in this first sweeping book of an epic fantasy series from Ken Liu, recipient of Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy awards. Hailed as one of the best books of 2015 by NPR. Wily, charming Kuni Garu, a bandit, and stern, fearless Mata Zyndu, the son of a deposed duke, seem like polar opposites. Yet, in the uprising against the emperor, the two quickly become the best of friends after a series of adventures fighting against vast conscripted armies, silk-draped airships, and shapeshifting gods. Once the emperor has been overthrown, however, they each find themselves the leader of separate factions—two sides with very different ideas about how the world should be run and the meaning of justice. Fans of intrigue, intimate plots, and action will find a new series to embrace in the Dandelion Dynasty.
