Excerpt from The Princeton Seminary Bulletin, Vol. 17: May, 1923 Christian Brothers in the ministry of the Church, a French writer has defined a great life as a thought conceived in the enthusiasm of youth and carried out in the strength of ma turity. Some time ago, it may have been years, there was born in your heart a great thought, the possibility of becoming ministers of Jesus Christ. In the glow of a worthy ambition you have nourished this thought until it has become, as we believe, a settled conviction, resting on a secure foundation of the very best training. Now you are to begin to build, to carry out your God-given thought with the strength of maturity. There is a challenging word of Paul's which I want to leave with you. Writing to the Corinthians in commendation of their generous purposes, he adds: Now complete the doing also, so that, as a modern translation puts it, prescribed therefor in this Seminary' About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Princeton Seminary Bulletin, Vol. 14: May, 1920 Permit me to extend to you this morning most sincere and hearty congratulations. I stand here unofficially as the spokesman for the Seminary, the church, and especially for the ministry whose service you now join in the interests of the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. The interest in an occasion like this may not be adequately expressed by any exer cises in which we engage. The urgent call in these days for the devotion of men to interests other than material is so wide-spread and em phatic that the graduation exercises of our theological seminaries take on a new and ln creased interest. Thirty - eight years ago at the Western Theological Seminary I was in your position and now after a generation of service I come to you with some Observations growing out of this experience in the hope that you may put a new appraisal upon the impor tance of the service of the minister to his gen cration. Accordingly, I have selected for the topic Of this address, The Ministry for the Modern Church. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Princeton Seminary Bulletin, Vol. 14: December 1919 So the product always reveals the source, if but we are able to read the marks upon it. The Pentateuch can be no exception, but most certainly bears the marks of its origin. The real internal evidence always does identify a document, if we are able to read the evidence aright. Wherever the Pentateuch came from, its provenance, whether naturalistic or revela tory, or both, or a development from within with an objective revelation added from with out, will certainly be stamped on its face. Made in the wilderness, made in Pales tine, made in Babylonia, or made in heaven will be marked upon it. The light that enables us to read aright these marks is the light from archaeology on Pentateuchal times. The purpose of these lectures is, by this light, to read these marks. Excerpt from The Princeton Seminary Bulletin, Vol. 17: November 1923 One cannot understand missions and mission problems without keeping in mind that the cur rents of thought are sweeping around the world with almost the speed of electricity. There are no theories, economic, political or religions, that are not current through the Orient, and espe cially in the world of religious thinking there are no longer any corners. The thinking world thinks together, and they are thinking the thoughts of the West. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
