While writing this story, I will be as truthful and honest as possible in describing my thoughts and actions immediately prior to being admitted to the hospital. It was at this time that I completely lost all sense of reality and started to live in the world of my thoughts, where I create my own reality. I will include notes from hospitals, so-called epicrisis (a critical or analytical summing up especially of a medical case history), and comments from friends and relatives. It all began in January 2006, ten years ago. At that point, I had successfully finished my education at Riga City Pavnieku Gymnasium and was studying political science at the University of Latvia. After the first year in university, I had the opportunity to go to Denmark and study European democracy and politics at Folkehojskole. As the programme was relevant to my studies at university, my tutors agreed, and I would be able to continue in my group when I returned. I thought I was going to continue with my coursework from Latvia while in Denmark, but I realised that they were two different, unrelated courses. Returning to Latvia, I soon realised I was not ready to take the ongoing examinations; and although my group mate had regularly sent me course notes, I did not bother to study or pay attention. I remember very clearly that day when I had to go to university, but I chose the easiest option and stayed at home. I thought I could take a year out from university, relax, enjoy my life, and teach children dancing. Unfortunately, this did not happen.

When Abishag leaves her home to fulfill the commission to comfort King David during his final months of life, she leaves behind a deaf sister, a small brother, and a father who is still grieving the death of his wife. Also left behind is Abishag’s betrothed, Joseph, who has already waited many months to claim his bride. Now, he must wait until Israel’s king no longer needs her. Torn from the comfort of her small village, Abishag is thrust into a world of unfamiliar customs, royal expectations, and palace intrigue. She is greeted suspiciously by the king’s concubines, warmly by Queen Bathsheba, and reluctantly by King David himself. Adonijah, the king’s son, is bitter over his father’s choice of Solomon as Israel’s next king. He determines to ruin Abishag to prevent her from being given as a prize to Solomon at their father’s death. Suffering personal losses, as well as scorn from much of the royal court, Abishag begins to question God’s goodness in placing her in the king’s service. Can she find someone there who understands that one who comforts the king is in great need of comfort herself? Will Abishag’s time with the king end in despair or joy?

Inspired by an Ethiopian folk tale, Gloria's Porridge shows young children how one act can cause a chain reaction and affect other people's lives. When Cat wanted some of Gloria's porridge, he ignored her saying no and ate it all. Gloria then scares Cat who tickles the donkey, who interrupts the bees who then frighten the hen. It is up to the fox then to show the others the importance of not letting this setback slow them down. This re-imagined folk tale tackles difficult ideas like having to take responsibility and overcoming setbacks in a fun and simple manner, ideal for young readers. Toby Newsome's colourful illustrations are inspired by his South African surroundings.

She was originally an unfavoured Third Miss in the Minister Palace, and she was forced to death. He was a handsome, lofty prince. Ten years ago, she had pulled his pants off and kicked him into the lake. Ten years later, she, who had been reborn, had returned blood-soaked. She was determined to wash away her past shame and avenge her mother. However, she did not want to meet him again, and thus was pestered by him. He treated her like a treasure in his palm, but she desperately wanted to escape until she had nowhere to run. Thus, she simply turned around and directly threw him onto the ground. Why, on the night of the wedding, he smiled with eyes as black as ink. He looked at her and asked, "My wife, ten years ago, the one who kicked I into the lake was you, right?" When she met him, it was as if they had met each other, and she had already defeated countless others in the human world. It was a one on one duel between strong men and strong women. If they were to join hands, they could guarantee that they would not fall into the trap.
