The Journal of Prison Discipline and Philanthropy was the first in the annual publication of what is now the Pennsylvania Prison Society, on prisoner welfare and reform. The journal was a revolutionary work on prisoner welfare at the time. It ceased in 1919 however, but has since been reissued and continues as a journal that is still in use today.
