Although she was awake she seemed a prey to a hind of nightmare; and she came and went muttering confused words, interrupted from time to time by the convulsive grating of her teeth. She suffered like this for hours, obstinately determined not to call for help, and imagining that if she merely so much as opened the door her husband would return in the belief that she was anxious to obtain his pardon. And yet, confident in his loyalty, she had not even turned the key in the lock nor pushed the bolt of the door. She would in truth have been a sorry conquest, a conquest calculated to frighten Philippe, for under the influence of the fever which consumed her she had so greatly changed that she could inspire no other feeling than one of pity. The first glimpse of dawn surprised her still pacing to and fro, trying to quell by dint of motion the swelling pain in her limbs. She dragged herself along, with a pale face and dim eyes, with her temples beating now as if struck with a pair of hammers. Her strength was failing her. In Master of Iron, the conclusion to Tricia Levenseller’s exciting and romantic Bladesmith duology, a magically gifted blacksmith with social anxiety must race against the clock to save her beloved sister and stop a devastating war. Eighteen-year-old Ziva may have defeated a deadly warlord, but the price was almost too much. Ziva is forced into a breakneck race to a nearby city with the handsome mercenary, Kellyn, and the young scholar, Petrik, to find a powerful magical healer who can save her sister’s life. When the events that follow lead to Ziva and Kellyn’s capture by an ambitious prince, Ziva is forced into the very situation she’s been dreading: magicking dangerous weapons meant for world domination. The forge has always been Ziva’s safe space, a place to avoid society and the anxiety it causes her, but now it is her prison, and she’s not sure just how much of herself she’ll have to sacrifice to save Kellyn and take center stage in the very war she’s been trying to stop. Praise for the Bladesmith Duology: "An addictive page-turner. Loaded with action, betrayal, slow-burn romance—honestly, that is the best first kiss scene ever... Be prepared to laugh, cry, and gasp." — Mary E. Their cannons saved a kingdom, forged the greatest empire in the world and changed the history of the human race. Intrigue, bribery, adultery and murder were common in Merthyr Tydfil, a town where the furnaces burned day and night, the sun seldom pierced the soot filled sky and the Iron Masters ruled without pity. Nye Vaughn, a humble farm boy, walked to Merthyr to find his destiny, unaware that a war was coming which would engulf the known world and make bold men rich. To fight Bonaparte, Britain needed cannons, thousands of them. Vaughn built the largest foundry of them all and made his fortune but, when the world changed, the iron behemoth he constructed turned on him.
