History of the Rubsamen/Turnipseed family originally of Westerwald area of Germany. Possibly early ancestors were three brothers, Christian Rubsamen (b. ca. 1722), Johann Theis Rubsamen (b. ca. 1714) and Johan Tonges Rubsamen (b. ca. 1708), all sons of Christian Rubsamen of Marienberg. They came to America in 1753 and 1764 settling in Pennsylvania. David Turnipseed was born in Virginia in 1800. He was probably a son of Jacob and Magdaline Turnipseed of Pendleton Co., Virginia. Family members live in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and elsewhere.
