The display of flags was remarkable, many rare ban ners and emblems of national and political character being shown. The facade of the Beckwith house on South Street was nearly dovered with thirteen different flags, each one connected with some phase of American history, including sev eral of the original colonies, the famous Rattlesnake emblem, early Revolutionary banners and a Civil War flag that was under fire at Fort Sumter, while on the Seymour homestead next door was a large and beautiful flag of the Order of the Cincinnati.
