I have conversations with people about how they pray the Jesus Prayer as they walk the city streets, as they travel on buses or on the Tube, as they cycle, or as they sit at home. From these experiences I have come more and more to see the Jesus Prayer as a way of praying well suited to urban life; a form of attentiveness practice that can help us to grow in God-experience amid the changes and chances of metropolitan living. This book explains the prayer, its ethos, and how to begin to practise it in daily life.

Acts 9:17 reads, "Brother Saul, Jesus hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight." Saul had his need met by a man that was directed by God; some say that was a chance encounter. Sowing Precious Seed offers an insight into the passion of Helen Berry. Helen has been moved to carry the gospel wherever life took her. Being a nurse she mingled with people in need. As a good sower, she "scattered the seed," and as an eager harvester she sought to "gather in," being always alert to her Master's cause. This book demonstrates the power inherent in the blending of a devout soul in tune with the Lord, together with a heart of love for the unsaved. It documents those impacted by their encounter with Helen, and it shows that God still directs those who have a heart burning for Him. There are unusual circumstances and amazing encounters, which could be deemed to be "chance meetings," but which are clearly seen to be the hand of God, still directing secretly but certainly. Let those who read this book take care; it will bring not just admiration with what God can do through a devoted life, but will change your attitude to prayer and witnessing. It exhibits a life consciously dedicated to our Lord, a life we all ought to be living. Pastor James McAlees, Grace Bible Church, Las Vegas, Nevada Helen has always been involved in the area of church planting. Presently, she is helping start a church in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is an accomplished pianist; faithfully using the talent God has given her for His glory. She currently is a Gospel for Asia volunteer and enjoys working with children in Good News Clubs with Child Evangelism. Helen has two grown sons, Rusty and David.

Praying is asking YHWH (with inserted vowels YAHWEH transliterated JEHOVAH commonly interpreted the LORD). Praying the Word of God develops faith because praying Scripture assures that we are asking in keeping with the LORD God's will. In other words, "God said so, therefore we say so". Hence, prayer in keeping with God's Word assures that we are asking that which the LORD God has already gifted for the benefit of mankind. More specifically, The Blessing of Abraham (material blessings) and the fullness thereof (spiritual blessings, authority) by the redemptive work of Christ Jesus. Among many titles and/or descriptors of Jesus the Anointed One and His Anointing, the Prophet Isaiah (53:12) referred to Him prophetically as the Great Intercessor. Indeed, the Lord Jesus proved no stranger to prayer; praying even amid The Passion (refer to Luke 23:34). The Lord Jesus said, God the Father already knows what we need (refer to Matthew 6:8); to which it might be asked, "if God already knows what we need, why do we have to pray/ask?" Humanity must pray/ask because Genesis 1:26-28 tells us that the LORD gave man (i.e., male, female) dominion over the earth; and through the Prophet Isaiah (55:11), God firmly relays that whatever He says never returns void. Therefore, as John Wesley stated, ". . . (God) can do nothing for humanity unless someone asks Him." 1 The Apostle Paul relayed that those who comprise the Body of Christ by the blood of Jesus are to pray all kinds of prayers, and requests, especially Holy Spirit led prayer (Ephesians 6:18). The Apostle John relayed in 1 John 5:14-15 that, when those who comprise the Body of Christ pray in keeping with God's will for our lives, we may be assured of manifestation. The only exception is that we are not asked to pray about the sin which leads to death (refer to 1 John 5:16). Jude relayed (v 20) that praying in the Spirit develops faith. To which it might be asked, "What does developing faith have to do with prayer?" Except for salvation which simply requires repentance as well as believing and confessing the Lord Jesus, the issue of whether to pray/ask the LORD God once or repeatedly depends on faith development. The quality of relationship with the LORD God through the Lord Jesus, and revelation of the information in God's Word through the Teaching of the Holy Spirit strengthens "the measure of faith." That is, the answer regarding whether a particular request via prayer is to be "once-and-done" or repetitive correlates to the development of the measure of faith gifted because faith is belief. Effective prayer correlates to believing in God as well as believing God.

Jesus’ disciples watched Him regularly go away by Himself to pray to His Father. This made such an impression on them that they asked Jesus to teach them to pray. We now know this prayer as “The Lord’s Prayer” or “The Our Father.” A more accurate description would be “The Disciple’s’ Prayer.” Was Jesus just giving His disciples a specific prayer to recite - a string of unchanging words in an unchanging sequence - or was He giving us a “way” to talk to His Father. Explore how and what Jesus taught His disciples about talking to His Father – and ours.
