Caught between a rock and a hard place, Slocum falls back on his manners. Ladies always come first—especially those in need. Besides, he was getting way too comfy being a cowhand, when there are men like his boss to be put in their place…

This new treatise is the most outstanding piece of work on the knee and its associated ligaments currently available. Never before have I seen such an extensive study of the biomechanics of the knee with such a comprehensive review of the literature. The first section of the book, which deals with the functional anatomy (structure and biomechanics), immediately alerts the reader to the necessity of understanding the natural develop ment and action of the related structures, clearly emphasizing that successful diagnosis and treatment cannot otherwise be expected; the many who want an easy standard approach to each classic problem may find this hard to accept. Study what Werner Muller has written and compare it with your own findings from repeated dissection of anatomical specimens. The author goes on to stress that to have a real grasp of reconstructive surgery of the ligaments, one must be properly acquainted with the pathology and the repair of acute lesions. In no other way can one learn to recognize chronic problems. Once this step has been mastered it can be seen that the reconstructive procedures that Muller advocates do, for the most part, follow the laws of Nature rather than create the kind of abnormalities which often disrupt natural anatomical func tion.

A six-shooter doesn’t do much good when you’re six feet under… Slocum likes to bury himself in his work…but now he’s in way over his head. Trapped underground, fighting for his life, all he can do is think about how he got into this mess… It all started because of the most notorious road agent west of the Mississippi, Les Jeter. Slocum had to make sure that this outlaw paid for the lives he’d taken…along with Slocum’s most prized possession—his brother’s watch. And he wasn’t alone on the hunt. Ambrose Killian was obsessed with Jeter and wanted to bring this legend to justice for his own sordid reasons. Hot on his trail, Killian’s enlisted his luscious secretary, a rival criminal, and a gang of greedy lawmen. Slocum knew it would be a challenging job. Almost as challenging as staying alive as the minutes tick by—and the air runs out…

It’s open season on the open range… Slocum knows better than to get mixed up in other people’s battles. But when he rescues the Tewksbury family from marauding Apache, he has little choice but to get them home safely. Their Circle T ranch is in the Tonto Basin, some of the finest cattle-raising land in the territory. And not every rancher in the valley is willing to share and share alike. Soon, Slocum finds himself pulled into a range war where the only place left to hide is six feet under…
