"The National Center for State Courts has been engaged by the Nebraska Supreme Court and Administrative Offices of the Courts to assess current operations in the offices of clerk of the district court and county court clerk magistrates relative to a proposal to combine these offices into a single entity that supports both courts. In practical terms, the proposal would eliminate the locally elected and funded position of clerk of the district court, combining these duties with that of the Supreme Court appointed position of county court clerk magistrate. The conclusions in this report are based on background information provided by the Administrative Office of the Courts, combined with interviews conducted with county and district court clerks, judges, county officials and others concerned with the improvement of the judiciary" (page 1).
