Excerpt from Practical Forms: Being Chiefly Designed as an Appendix to the Practice of the Court of King's Bench, in Personal Actions In conducting a suit at law, there are two things to be considered by the practitioner; first, what is to be done; and secondly, the time and manner of doing it: And in attending to these objects, it will be found that an adherence to certain established forms is constantly necessary. These forms consist principally of notices, demands, rules of court, summonses and orders, writs and returns, and entries of proceedings. Notices are either of an intention to bring an action, or of something done or intended to be done in the course of the suit, such as notices of bail being put in, or declaration filed, or of motion or trial, &c. Demands are of something to be given or done by the opposite party, as oyer and copy of deeds, &c. Notices and demands pass between the parties or their attornies, and are not field or entered of record. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
