Excerpt from The Pot-Pourri, 1898, Vol. 6 Cribbing is a custom found almost everywhere, and there are various methods of treating it, more or less successful - but principally less. In this school it has been the Custom for boys to sever their connection with the school by being caught cribbing. That being caught condition is what keeps the school from disband ing, for it is hard to find boys who will not crib when pressed, or who, at least, will not give assistance to neighbors in distress. While we heartily condemn the dishonesty and Short-sightedness of the boy who cribs, and the cowardice of him who helps another for fear of being thought ungenerous, we are inclined to hold the methods of the Faculty responsible for the great extent of this foolishness. For an instructor to sneak around the room on tip-toe during an examination, or even to watch from the desk, is to assume the responsibility of the class's hon esty, and is as much as to dare the boys to crib. Then the class feels no restraint, and the very risk is fascinating. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Rules for Radicals

“This country's leading hell-raiser" (The Nation) shares his impassioned counsel to young radicals on how to effect constructive social change and know “the difference between being a realistic radical and being a rhetorical one.” First published in 1971 and written in the midst of radical political developments whose direction Alinsky was one of the first to question, this volume exhibits his style at its best. Like Thomas Paine before him, Alinsky was able to combine, both in his person and his writing, the intensity of political engagement with an absolute insistence on rational political discourse and adherence to the American democratic tradition.
