Confinement in this one-horse town, while my foot heals, is driving me crazy with boredom, which is why I volunteered to help Piper find her phantom parents. She never stops pestering me; go figure. It’s annoying, but kind of cute. It’s not like there’s a real possibility of us being together – we’re from totally different worlds and it’d never work. But on lonely nights, the idea of home and domestic bliss with Piper by my side is enough to make me dream.

An addictive fantasy romance from TikTok sensation Piper CJ, now newly revised and edited. Two orphans grow into powerful young women as they face countless threats to find their way back to each other. Farleigh is just an orphanage. At least, that's what the church would have the people believe, but beautiful orphans Nox and fae-touched Amaris know better. They are commodities for sale, available for purchase by the highest bidder. So when the madame of a notorious brothel in a far-off city offers a king's ransom to purchase Amaris, Nox ends up taking her place — while Amaris is drawn away to the mountains, home of mysterious assassins. Even as they take up new lives and identities, Nox and Amaris never forget one thing: they will stop at nothing to reunite. But the threat of war looms overhead, and the two are inevitably swept into a conflict between human and fae, magic and mundane. With strange new alliances, untested powers, and a bond that neither time nor distance could possibly break, the fate of the realms lies in the hands of two orphans — and the love they hold for each other.

The Piper’s Call uncovers the early history of the Piper’s River districts, including Underwood, Lalla, Karoola, Turner’s Marsh, Bangor and other communities. Through the eyes of an imaginary early settler we look into the intimate lives of original families such as the Campbells, Beesons, Rowleys, Barretts, Burkes, Crabtrees, Hammersleys, McCarthys, McKennas, O’Kellys, Lyonses and others. Of particular interest are the innovative industries that dominated the district and have since been forgotten – the Grubb & Tyson saw mill at Hollybank in 1850s, and the huge slate quarries at Bangor and Piper’s River in the 1870s and 1880s. This is a must read for those fascinated by local history, and those with roots in the area.

This carefully crafted ebook: "The Pied Piper of Hamelin (Illustrated Edition)” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. The Pied Piper of Hamelin is the subject of a legend concerning the disappearance or death of a great number of kids from the town of Hamelin (Hameln), Lower Saxony, Germany, in the Middle Ages. The earliest references describe a piper, dressed in multicolored ("pied") clothing, leading the kids away from the town never to return. In the 16th century the story was expanded into a full narrative, in which the piper is a rat-catcher hired by the town to lure rats away with his magic pipe. When the citizens refuse to pay for this service, he retaliates by turning his power that he put in his instrument on their children, leading them away as he had the rats. This version of the story spread as folklore and has also appeared in the writings of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the Brothers Grimm and Robert Browning, among others. Using the Verstegan/Wanley version of the tale and adopting the 1376 date, Browning's verse retelling is notable for its humor, wordplay, and jingling rhymes. Robert Browning (1812-1889) was an English poet and playwright whose mastery of dramatic verse, and in particular the dramatic monologue, made him one of the foremost Victorian poets. His poems are known for their irony, characterization, dark humor, social commentary, historical settings, and challenging vocabulary and syntax. The speakers in his poems are often musicians or painters whose work functions as a metaphor for poetry.
