The basis for the movie starring Kathy Bates, Ambulance Girl is an inspiring story by a woman who found, somewhat late in life, that “in helping others I learned to help myself.” Jane Stern was a walking encyclopedia of panic attacks, depression, and hypochondria. Her marriage of more than thirty years was suffering, and she was virtually immobilized by fear and anxiety. As the daughter of parents who both died before she was thirty, Stern was terrified of illness and death, and despite the fact that her acclaimed career as a food and travel writer required her to spend a great deal of time on airplanes, she suffered from a persistent fear of flying and severe claustrophobia. Yet, this fifty-two-year-old writer decided to become an emergency medical technician. Stern tells her story with great humor and poignancy, creating a wonderful portrait of a middle-aged, Woody Allen–ish woman who was “deeply and neurotically terrified of sick and dead people,” but who went out into the world to save other people’s lives as a way of saving her own. Her story begins with the boot camp of EMT training: 140 hours at the hands of a dour ex-marine who took delight in presenting a veritable parade of amputations, hideous deformities, and gross disasters. Jane—overweight and badly out of shape—had to surmount physical challenges like carrying a 250-pound man seated in a chair down a dark flight of stairs. After class she did rounds in the emergency room of a local hospital. Each call Stern describes is a vignette of human nature, often with a life in the balance. From an AIDS hospice to town drunks, yuppie wife beaters to psychopaths, Jane comes to see the true nature and underlying mysteries of a town she had called home for twenty years. Throughout the book we follow her as she gets her sea legs, bonds with the firefighters who become her colleagues, and eventually, comes to be known as Ambulance Girl.

Larry Wade Livingston was born in Cincinnati, Ohio early in the month of November. He grew up traveling state to state only living in cities sometime for only a few short weeks. His dad was an over the road truck driver which allowed him to attend countless schools throughout his entire childhood. Always being the new kid in school he really had no friends. He found that by writing stories it occupied his mind and he could create his own little world. It was a world that he could control and where he was accepted. I hope you enjoy the stories that Mister Livingston still amuses himself with now as an adult. He writes humorous tales to deep complicated ones and covers many subject matters. If you enjoy his tales told in his down home style; you can find other books by Larry Wade Livingston at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. This book has more than twenty years of real-life incidents and was written for two reasons. I want those who are just starting in this profession and also those who have many years' experience, both paid and volunteers, to understand the roller coaster of emotions they will experience. The other reason for writing this book is to try to explain to the general public what emergency responders go through and the many different emotions we experience. We are not robots- we are just like you. We are your neighbors, your teachers, and your friends. Every one of us has dedicated a tremendous amount of time and energy in preparing to be there in your time of need. It is our privilege and we love to do it. Everything I talk about in the book is real; there are no fabricated stories or sensationalizing to make the incidents sound more dramatic. They are written truthfully, as they happened, and the emotions are genuine. I hope this book sheds some light on the courageous and extraordinary people that work and volunteer in these professions and the challenges they face.

"With the chaos of summer tourists and fall birders out of town, counselor Patience Price is looking forward to the quiet life she remembers. She longs for some peace. And an apple fritter. But the calm is cut short when a reality show sets up camp to film a special about ghosts on her little island. Now fans, reporters and crew have flocked to sleepy Chincoteague. Who knew ghost hunters had an entourage? Sebastian doesn't want Patience ruffling any feathers but, as always, she can't help herself. Patience promises to let Sebastian handle the investigation--he is FBI, after all--but after a drive-by shooting, her wicked curiosity gets the best of her. And with the TV show forging ahead with filming, the list of suspects (and the line of food trucks) only grows. But has the shooter already flown the coop? And how do you find a killer when you don't know who the target is?"--Publisher's website.

He manages to leave Bahrain with his reputation as the best of the best still intact. He recruits his lover, Dounia al Zanawi to join him and several U.S. special ops members in standing up a private security company known as CAPSTONE-X. Headed by former Senator Charles Clyborne, CAPSTONE’s mission is to rid the country of the corruption running rampant within the U.S. Political machine, as well as rid the world of corrupt leaders. Zack remains the number one target of Denny Cravens, the Chief of the Special Operations Division at CIA. The two go back and forth with the all-out intent of getting rid of each other. Zack loses good friends, colleagues, and professional acquaintances in the ongoing battle to unseat Denny Cravens from his powerful position. Along the way, it seems Denny is protected by very powerful political figures, making it nearly impossible to bring him to justice. The entire CAPSTONE team heads to North Korea to rescue the United States’ top Nuclear Scientist. Kidnapped by North Korean agents as he drove to work, Dr. Paul Dunning was moved to the NK nuclear lab in Pyong Yang. He was told, assist the NK scientists there to develop a nuclear weapon, or his entire family would be killed. A daring rescue takes place as the team devise a plan to enter North Korea, obtain Dr. Dunning, and egress North Korea. In order to have plausible deniability, the president was forced to use non-USG assets for the rescue.
