This brief presents several enhancement modules to Multipath Transmission Control Protocol (MPTCP) in order to support stable and efficient multipath transmission with user cooperation in the Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. The text explains how these enhancements provide a stable aggregate throughput to the upper-layer applications; guarantee a steady goodput, which is the real application-layer perceived throughput; and ensure that the local traffic of the relays is not adversely affected when the relays are forwarding data for the destination. The performance of the proposed solutions is extensively evaluated using various scenarios. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed modules can achieve a stable aggregate throughput and significantly improve the goodput by 1.5 times on average. The brief also shows that these extensions can well respect the local traffic of the relays and motivate the relay users to provide the relaying service.

As the volume of global Internet traffic increases, the Internet is beginning to suffer from a broad spectrum of performance-degrading infrastructural limitations that threaten to jeopardize the continued growth of new, innovative services. In answer to this challenge, computer scientists seek to maintain the original design principles of the Internet while allowing for a more dynamic approach to the manner in which networks are designed and operated. The Handbook of Research on Redesigning the Future of Internet Architectures covers some of the hottest topics currently being debated by the Internet community at large, including Internet governance, privacy issues, service delivery automation, advanced networking schemes, and new approaches to Internet traffic-forwarding and path-computation mechanics. Targeting students, network-engineers, and technical strategists, this book seeks to provide a broad and comprehensive look at the next wave of revolutionary ideas poised to reshape the very foundation of the Internet as we know it.

"Nowadays, network connectivity and the Internet have been an indispensable part of our daily lives via various services/applications supporting all of the industry areas ranged from trade and business, administration to entertainment, transportation, education, and healthcare. Typically, the concepts and introductions of terms, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud or edge/fog computing, and content-oriented network services, have been investigated as emerging topics toward the realization of the Internet of Everything (IoX) in the future. Toward this end, developing an efficient congestion control mechanism is regarded as a key to an efficient and robust network design since the network availability and stability can directly affect the network performance, in terms of interoperability and robustness, especially in the case of an explosive increase in the network traffic volume. In particular, when a network link becomes corrupted or overload, congestion may occur due to packet drops. As a result, the overall network performance, including network throughput, latency, and response time will be degraded. The book is not intended to provide a comprehensive description of various congestion control techniques. Rather, with the assumptions that the readers have some general knowledge of networking fundamentals, the main goal of this book is to bring together distinguished perspectives of congestion control in different network platforms and technologies, ranged from TCP/IP, MPTCP (Multipath TCP) in heterogeneous networks, wireless networks to information-centric networks as future networks, and even supercomputing. The book then aims to give a new insight into this challenging and important topic of congestion control to overcome network performance degradation when congestion occurs from both theory/principles and practical viewpoints. Hence, we hope that this book provides a broader picture of the Congestion control concept in the context of communication networks toward efficient network design"--

Telecommunication networks are continually evolving and are deeply impacted by new technologies such as Software Defined Networking (SDN), Software Defined Wireless Networking (SDWN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) paradigms. Research and solutions that explore new concepts, however, need to be tested in controlled environments, provide reliable results, and preferably have portability to physical network infrastructures. Thus, seeking to fill an important gap about experimenting with projects and research on wireless networks, the Mininet-WiFi emulator was developed. Also capable of emulating the wired medium, Mininet-WiFi can be used as a tool in the process of teaching computer networks for various levels of education and addressing multiple case studies including mobility, mesh and ad hoc networks, load balancing, security, quality. of Service (QoS), MultiPath TCP (MP-TCP), vehicular networks, IoT, P4, among others. This book takes an approach to the world of wireless networking with an emphasis on experimentation and case studies, which are separated at different levels of complexity, but always following a didactic step-by-step approach, with access to source code for reproducing activities. proposed practices and supplemented with additional readings and demonstrative videos.
