I feel it is my responsibility to provide an avenue for young children to learn about God and his promises. Raising a child in this world can be scary and difficult; therefore, I am dedicated to using the gifts I have been blessed with to influence the lives of children and their parents. My son has been my biggest source of inspiration. He has inspired me to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a professional author. I have now completed my first Christian children’s book. The main character of this book, Mommy, Tell Me about God, is also my biggest inspiration—my son, Ian. While our life experiences shape our outlook on life, they also guide the way we pursue our future interests. My name is Sharanika Curlee I was born and raised in a small town called Corinth MS. Getting to know God for myself, I quickly realized the importance of giving back. I have been blessed to work in a variety of settings and had the opportunity to encounter many people, whom I have been blessed to spread the word of God. I have worked as a optician for 14 years, certified financial loan officer for 3 years, licensed cosmetologist for 12 years and jewelry designer 10 years. While wearing many hats throughout my career I have been blessed to cross paths with many people to whom I was able to grace with God’s word. I have always had a desire to make a greater impact. As a single parent to a five-year-old son, I understand the importance of rearing him in a manner that provides him with the foundation to become a happy, healthy, young man with a heart for not only serving God, but also to be a vessel of hope and help to others. In today’s society, there are always opportunities to do wrong and become engulfed in a way of life that produces unfavorable results. Teach them early and if they stray they have the knowledge that was instilled in them at a young age to find their way back to God.

Like every girl, Paula Byabagamba dreamed of a life full of love, protection, joy, and happiness. But those dreams were shattered when she found herself all alone, unprotected, and vulnerable. Feeling unworthy and unloved, with more questions than answers, she uttered desperate cries of worship to God for answers. As a result, she developed a deep and personal relationship with the Lord. Now free from anger, hatred, shame, and unforgiveness, she tells the story of her life in Purpose Beyond Pain. This is a tale of a girl who embarks on a journey from a refugee camp, travels to a scary city full of people speaking different languages, returns home to her war-torn country, Rwanda, and then eventually moves to Canada. In her journey, she discovers the power of God and His amazing grace that covers you when you’re vulnerable and naked. If you find yourself lost in the pain of your circumstances, this story will remind you that there is hope for a better, satisfying, and whole life. Paula demonstrates that temporary life circumstances don’t have to change the authentic person you were created to become. We have a God-given power, through the Holy Spirit, to change our lives and the lives of those around us for the better.

Twelve-year-old July Krativitiz lives in Maplewood, New Hampshire with her adorable two-year-old brother, Abe, and her drug-addicted mother. July's life is complicated. Her mother is often too stoned to care for her little brother. So July must either stay home to protect him or pray for his safety when she is at school. Mary White, an elderly neighbor, offers help. But when Mrs. White discovers what's going on with July's mother, she takes some very drastic actions. For one thing, she kidnaps the children to a faraway lake house where she knows they will be safe, safe, safe. July soon realizes Mrs. White is not the kindly neighbor she believed her to be. Then Abe’s father, Roger, comes to pick up his little boy for their weekend visit. He understands something is wrong as he is climbing the stairs as it is eerily quiet and smells of rotten potatoes. When he enters the apartment he finds July’s mom dead on the floor with no sign of the children. Roger embarks on a journey to find July, Abe, and their mom’s killer.

Too many mothers long for peace but despair that it always seems out of reach. The stress of motherhood overwhelms their attempts to be the Christlike mom they aspire to be. Now moms can take heart: no matter where they are on their parenting journey, every mom can experience the power of Christ in a personal way that will radically change their lives, their outlook, their power source, and their approach to motherhood—and every other relationship as well. April Cassidy, author of The Peaceful Wife, returns to discuss how the peace of Christ can be found in the next stage of life. Rather than writing a how-to book on parenting, The Peaceful Mom is a guide for moms to lead by example. She first shows readers how to have their hearts and minds right with the Lord and to experience peace with God as their new normal. Then from that place of spiritual communion, April teaches moms how this peace helps them relate to their children in healthy, godly ways. Through their own flourishing relationship with Christ, moms can model God's peace in their family dynamics even amid everyday challenges and stress. Cassidy offers tangible, detailed steps to spiritual growth that any mother can follow. For moms who are ready to receive the healing and transformation available to them through Jesus, this book will open their eyes to see all of life--not just parenting--from a fresh, life-giving perspective.

"What I want to say to you is that sometimes life catches you by surprise and you feel unequipped to handle what it brings you, but every bit of life you've lived before that moment equips you to live through it. That's what I would give to you." -Fanni Victoria Green-Lemons, in conversation with her daughter, Danyealah Green-Lemons In Mom, Dave Isay-StoryCorps's founder and the editor of the project's bestselling collection, Listening Is an Act of Love-presents a celebration of American mothers. Featuring StoryCorps's most revelatory stories on the subject, Mom looks across a diversity of experience to present an entirely original portrait of motherhood. Through conversations between parents and children, husbands and wives, siblings and friends, the life of the American mother unfolds. In stories that take us from the woods of New Hampshire to urban Detroit and beyond, we meet mothers and children from all walks of life-an immigrant mother instilling in her children the importance of education, adult children caring for an elderly parent, a woman remembering the sound of her mother's laugh, and mothers and children of all ages learning to grow into new roles over time. Visiting families in moments of profound joy and sadness, courage and despair, struggle and triumph, we learn new truths about that most primal and sacred of bonds-the relationship between mother and child. With this vital contribution to the American storybook, StoryCorps has created a tribute to mothers that honors the wealth of our national experience. An appreciation of the wisdom and generosity passed between mothers and children, this generation to the next, Mom offers powerful lessons in the meaning of family and the expansiveness of the human heart.
