Mind Stimulator is poetry that will bless the mind as well as the soul. It is not about just one subject, it is some of everything that goes on with me or around us. These words that you will read have blessed me to be strong over the past thirty-two years of my life. If I were to write a book about my own life, everything in it would not be happy. So, I say to all of you, Do not expect every poem to be a happy poem, but Do expect the words I write in these poems to be real. I write about anything that captures my mind’s attention. I pray and hope that these poems will touch your heart, bless your mind, and make you as strong as possible in this life that we all have only one chance to live. Mind Stimulator describes so many people’s everyday life, including myself. Whether you are young or old, I have written something that can reflect on us all. I know this world has yet to know me so I came to put some of my skin on the great poet’s wall. I heard Mr. Man at the barber shop say, “If you don’t have any skin on the wall, then basically you’re nobody.” We are taught as children to be somebody, so Here I Am World, doing what God gave me a mind to do with and doing it with passion. I hope that my book influences many other people with talents to take a step forward in life. Use what God blessed you with to help many people around you. Now be blessed as you read.

The electrifying, forgotten history of Robert Heath's brain pacemaker, investigating the origins and ethics of one of today's most promising medical breakthroughs: deep brain stimulation The technology invented by psychiatrist Robert G. Heath in the 1950s and '60s has been described as among the most controversial experiments in US history. His work was alleged at the time to be part of MKUltra, the CIA's notorious "mind control" project. His research subjects included incarcerated convicts and gay men who wished to be "cured" of their sexual preference. Yet his cutting-edge research and legacy were quickly buried deep in Tulane University's archives. Investigative science journalist Lone Frank now tells the complete sage of this passionate, determined doctor and his groundbreaking neuroscience. More than fifty years after Heath's experiments, this very same treatment is becoming mainstream practice in modern psychiatry for everything from schizophrenia, anorexia, and compulsive behavior to depression, Parkinson's, and even substance addiction. Lone Frank uncovered lost documents and accounts of Heath's trailblazing work. She tracked down surviving colleagues and patients, and she delved into the current support for deep brain stimulation by scientists and patients alike. What has changed? Why do we today unquestioningly embrace this technology as a cure? How do we decide what is a disease of the brain to be cured and what should be allowed to remain unrobed and unprodded? And how do we weigh the decades of criticism against the promise of treatment that could be offered to millions of patients? Elegantly written and deeply fascinating, The Pleasure Shock weaves together biography, scientific history, and medical ethics. It is an adventure into our ever-shifting views of the mind and the fateful power we wield when we tinker with the self.

A popular claim in recent years is that a person only uses 10% of their brain, and while this is not remotely true, it is accurate that the human brain contains massive untapped capabilities. Brains remain the most magnificent biological machines, and the latest neurobiological research on nutrition, sleep, music and exercise aims to help people keep theirs in top shape. The human mind is more than just electrochemical signals--it's a fountain of consciousness, transcending physicality. This work, backed by decades of experience, includes the latest neuroscience research and vignettes based on the author's actual patients. Containing "mental hacks" to explain how to overcome mental limitations, it explores how simple changes like breaking bad habits, having a better work-life balance, and more could help the human mind go from being just "fine-tuned" to being enlightened and limitless. With these hacks, a designer brain is just around the corner.

Deep brain Stimulation (DBS) is being increasingly carried out for several neurological disorders, the most common being Parkinson's disease. This handbook on Deep brain Stimulation will serve as a quick reference manual for those who want to gain expertise on this advanced neurosurgical technique wherein neurologists, neurosurgeons and neurophysiologists play key roles. The indications, procedures, complications and scientific trials to substantiate the evidence for the use of DBS are dealt with under different headings by experts in the respective fields. This will serve more as a practical guide than a theoretical text book as it is written based on the hands on experience of the respective authors.
