Longarm goes toe to toe with a low-down lead-slinging lawman! When Longarm hightails it to the Arizona desert for a dose of rest and relaxation, he isn’t looking to stir up trouble. But from the moment he witnesses a man gunned down by a lead-slinging lawman at the Crystal Palace Saloon, it becomes dead clear something sinister is afoot. Wrangling with a deputy marshal who’s enforcing his own murderous version of the law isn’t Longarm’s idea of a holiday. But as he follows a trail of suspicious deaths that all lead to the corrupt deputy and his ravishing sister, Longarm vows to track down the cold-blooded killer, even if it takes him all the way to Central America to bring him—or her—to justice…

These spooky strumpets don’t stand a ghost of a chance! There’ve been plenty of tall tales goin’ around about long-dead madams and passed-on pimps acting all too lively out near Animas Point. And far be it from Deputy Custis Longarm to let a supposed haunted whorehouse go uninvestigated. So, under the alias Buck Crawford, he gets on the trail to spot the sexy spooks for himself. But even disguised as a harmless traveler, Longarm’s snooping gets him close to more danger—and more women—than he cares to recall. And if he doesn’t get to the bottom of this dirty ghost town, he may just wind up in their company for good!

The Charing Cross Mystery follows a young lawyer, Hetherwick, who happens to be on a train alongside a former police inspector who dies suddenly in front of him. The other man in the carriage runs off at the next stop and vanishes. Hetherwick takes it upon himself to investigate what turns out to be a murder. J. S. Fletcher originally wrote the story in 1922 for a weekly magazine, who called it Black Money. Longarm’s seeing double… The Olsen sisters are as beautiful as they are deadly. Hilda and Pearl were twin mistresses to Senator Taft Baker of Sacramento, California, but now the polygamous politician has been shot to death in his bed—and the sisters are nowhere to be found. While the sisters may be identical in appearance, they turn out to be as different as night and day when it comes to temperament. Evil twin Pearl aims to blast Longarm with both barrels, while Hilda is more interested in doubling his pleasure. Longarm plays bodyguard—and the job has its benefits… Custis Long would rather have his backside branded than act as bodyguard to Congressman Howard Palmer’s ornery, ugly wife and her daughter. Seems the suit’s liberal notions about Indian reservations have Western whites up in arms. But a job’s a job. And things start looking up: since he’s been on this detail, an anonymous, veiled lady has visited his bed at night—giving him something to remember in the morning. But when assassins start shooting at the motley threesome, things get uglier than Mrs. Palmer without makeup. Even more so when Longarm realizes their real target—him…
