"Contradiction after contradiction, said the man, the Bible is full of them." I wondered what Bible he was reading. Most apparent paradoxes resolve themselves with careful study and research. I love the old book, it is my God, speaking to me. Oh, there are love stories that would make a romance novelist author blush and tales of extra-terrestrials that surpass the fiction of television and movie space travel. There are also truths about how to enjoy life and how to live it to the fullest. I've spent many years in the book and I hope to spend more. For forty years I've studied the end days and what we are to expect in the future! A short course in what heaven is like and the condition of today's churches is included in this book. Warning, not all churches will be automatically represented in heaven. When I was born, there were less than two billion people on this earth, now, there are more than seven billion. The earth can't hold many more. Despite wars, that kill many, and crop failures the population growth soars. The earth's population is soon to peak. Soon, the end will come.

The Propagandists' Playbook peels back the layers of the right-wing media manipulation machine to reveal why its strategies are pervasive, while humanizing the people whose worldviews and media practices conservatism embodies. Based on interviews and ethnographic observations of two Republican groups over the course of the 2017 Virginia gubernatorial race--including the author's firsthand experience of the 2017 Unite the Right rally--the book considers how Google algorithms, YouTube playlists, pundits, and politicians can manipulate search, reaffirm beliefs, and expose audiences to extremist ideas, blurring the lines between reality and fiction. Tripodi argues that conservatives who embody the Christian worldview give authoritative weight to original texts and interrogate the media using the same tools taught to them in Bible study--for example, using Google to "fact check" the news. The result of this practice, tied to conservative marketing tactics, is a radicalization of content and a changing of narratives adopted by the media.

Turf Wars: Discourse, Diversity, and the Politics of Place is the fascinating story of an urban neighborhood undergoing rapid gentrification. Explores how members of a multi-ethnic, multi-class Washington, DC, community deploy language to legitimize themselves as community members while discrediting others. Discusses such issues as public toilets and public urination, the "morality" of co-ops and condos, and characterizations of "good" girls and "bad" boys. Draws on linguistic anthropology and discourse analysis to provide insight into the ways that local activity shapes larger urban social processes. Draws also on cultural geography and urban anthropology.
