Poetry. Asian & Asian American Studies. Translated by Eunhwa Choe, Rachel S. Rhee, and Kyung-Nyun Kim Richards. "These poems come wrapped in nature--trees, stars, moon, sea, rain, bees, clouds. Yoon-Ho Cho's images are crisp, his poems concise--not a word is wasted. Some slight aspect of the natural world ignites the poet's imagination, and the insights produced hurl the reader into an unexpected delight like 'the moon smiles,' or 'Light is not light if it fails to illuminate.' Sparks have been evoked from dust, light has been roused from the shadows of falling leaves. These poems are startling, comforting, disturbing. Like life, sometimes the road is soothing and peaceful, and sometimes it is disturbing and filled with apprehension. Yoon-Ho Cho reveals his mastery of subtle emotions with evocative language that resonates like a tingling through the flesh."--Bill Wolak

"When fourteen-year-old Mary Hillier delivered a message to photographer Julia Margaret Cameron’s door, little did she know what her life would become... Julia Margaret Cameron received her first camera as a gift when she was forty-eight but her love affair with the medium had already spanned several decades and continents. An enthusiast for this newly invented device, she travelled the world befriending experts who taught her the magic and the science of the lens such as the astronomer John Herschel, and pioneering photographers like her brother in law the Earl Somers and the Swedish risk-taking artist Oscar Rejlander. Beginning as Julia’s parlour maid, Mary went on to become the photographer’s leading model and the focus of the artist’s creative passion. For Julia, Mary personified the heavenly qualities of her quiet corner of England. For Mary, Julia’s influence would echo throughout her life. This is a biography of two women who experienced beauty, love, loss and fame, and created photographs that, in Julia’s own words, ‘should electrify you with delight and startle the world’. Spanning the French Revolution to the 1930s, Light and Love tells the story of a rare partnership of a pioneer and her muse, and how their relationship would change the course of both of their lives"--

The doctrine of the Holy Spirit has often been a neglected theme in Christian thought. In Light of Truth and Fire of Love Gary D. Badcock attempts to redress this theological imbalance and to reassert the centrality of the doctrine of the Spirit in Christian theology. Badcock begins by surveying what both the Old and New Testaments have to say about the Spirit. Next he traces the history of the theology of the Spirit, examining a number of crucial episodes and questions in the field of pneumatology in the history of Christian thought, and then proceeds to develop a contemporary theology of the Spirit. Badcock goes on to relate this theology of the Spirit to the theological enterprise initiated by Karl Barth earlier in this century -- the return to the doctrine of the Trinity as the framework for Christian reflection. Setting forth the positive and negative results of much of contemporary trinitarian theology, Badcock ultimately makes a case for a balanced doctrine of the Word and the Spirit in which neither is subordinated to the other.

"Listen and attend with the ear of your heart." - Saint Benedict. Dolores Hart stunned Hollywood in 1963, when after ten highly successful feature films, she chose to enter a contemplative monastery. Now, fifty years later, Mother Dolores gives this fascinating account of her life, with co-author and life-long friend, Richard DeNeut. Dolores was a bright and beautiful college student when she made her film debut with Elvis Presley in Paramount's 1957 Loving You. She acted in nine more movies with other big stars such as Montgomery Clift, Anthony Quinn and Myrna Loy. She also gave a Tony-nominated performance in the Broadway play The Pleasure of His Company and appeared in television shows, including The Virginian and Playhouse 90. An important chapter in her life occurred while playing Saint Clare in the movie Francis of Assisi, which was filmed on location in Italy. Born Dolores Hicks to a complicated and colorful Chicago family, Mother Dolores has travelled a charmed yet challenging road in her journey toward God, serenity and, yes, love. She entered the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, Connecticut, at the peak of her career, not in order to leave the glamorous world of acting she had dreamed of since childhood, but in order to answer a mysterious call she heard with the "ear of the heart". While contracted for another film and engaged to be married, she abandoned everything to become a bride of Christ.
