As part of the sesquicentennial of the Indiana Historical Society's founding, it has seemed appropriate to make a comprehensive index of the first 25 volumes of the society's numbered publications. It is not a complete name or subject index, but an attempt to pick out the main subjects and the individuals for whom there is substantive information . The proceedings of the Indiana Historical Society in volumes one and six have been indexed more completely than the other publications because of the information they contain about the Society.
