The Congressional Record began publication in 1873. Debates for sessions prior to 1873 are recorded in The Debates and Proceedings in the Congress of the United States (1789-1824), the Register of Debates in Congress (1824-1837), and the Congressional Globe (1833-1873)

Thomas Besbedge was born ca 1589-90 in England. His parents were John Besbeech and Dorothy Austin Foster. Thomas sailed to America from Sandwich, England in 1634-35. He and his children settled in Scituate, Massachusetts. Thomas was one of the first deacons in the Church with John Lathrop. The lands that Thomas owned bordered Captain Miles Standish's. Thomas married in 1619 in England to Ann Baseden. He died 9 March 1673-4, in Sudbury, Massachusetts and Anne Baseden died in April 1634 in Frittenden, Kent, England.
