The nation has transformed. The calls for racial equity are loud and insistent and they are now being listened to. And yet, companies across the country are still far behind when it comes to equity in the workplace. For decades, we've heard variations on the same theme on how to increase diversity and inclusion and we have still not moved. If we want equity to matter inside and outside the workplace, if we want to be real allies for change, then we need a new approach. We need to stop following trends. We need to lead change. In Authentic Diversity, culture change expert and diversity speaker, Michelle Silverthorn, explains how to transform diversity and inclusion from mere lip service into the very heart of leadership. Following the journey of a Black woman in the workplace, leaders learn the old rules of diversity that keep failing her and millions like her again and again, and the new rules they must put in place to make success a reality for everyone. A millennial, immigrant, and Black woman in America, Michelle will show you how to lead a space centered on equity, allyship, and inclusion and how together we can build a new organization, and nation, centered on justice.

What does it take for a young minister in his first pastorate to thrive (not simply survive) in the local church? What personal, emotional, psychological, and spiritual issues must young ministers attend to in order to be successful in ministry? What role do character issues play in a successful ministry? These are just a few of the questions raised by Letters for Micah. Drawing on his ministry experience and study in the area of spiritual formation, Les Hardin blends practical, field-tested wisdom with sound, biblical advice to help ministry novices navigate the turbulent waters they often face in their first ministries. Letters for Micah allows the reader to enter into the conversation between a seasoned pastoral veteran and an apprentice who leans on him for guidance in the difficulties of his first days in ministry. Compiling letters written specifically for this project and actual correspondence with ministry novices, Hardin bridges the worlds of practical ministry training and spiritual formation to help novices grasp the responsibilities pastoral ministry entails. Rather than peddling contemporary, pop-leadership techniques to get the work done, this book encourages young ministers to form lifelong character habits and spiritual formation practices as the biblically ordained foundation for ministry.

It is only since global media and digital communications became accessible to ordinary populations – with Telstar, jumbo jets, the pc and mobile devices – that humans have been able to experience their own world as planetary in extent. What does it mean to be one species on one planet, rather than a patchwork of scattered, combative and mutually untranslatable cultures? One of the most original and prescient thinkers to tackle cultural globalisation was Juri Lotman (1922-93). On the Digital Semiosphere shows how his general model of the semiosphere provides a unique and compelling key to the dynamics and functions of today's globalised digital media systems and, in turn, their interactions and impact on planetary systems. Developing their own reworked and updated model of Lotman's evolutionary and dynamic approach to the semiosphere or cultural universe, the authors offer a unique account of the world-scale mechanisms that shape media, meanings, creativity and change – both productive and destructive. In so doing, they re-examine the relations among the contributing sciences and disciplines that have emerged to explain these phenomena, seeking to close the gap between biosciences and humanities in an integrated 'cultural science' approach.

In order for information professionals to participate fully in KM initiatives, or to be able to take advantage of the concept to improve the effective application of their skills, both the professionals and management need a good understanding of the KM approach and the information related roles within that framework. This book focuses on the potential role of the information professional in the KM environment and, using plenty of case studies, considers: the knowledge context - creating knowledge based environments in a range of sectors powering information: the role of information skills in KM. In Experimental Practice Dimitris Papadopoulos explores the potential for building new forms of political and social movements through the reconfiguration of the material conditions of existence. Rather than targeting existing institutions in demands for social justice, Papadopoulos calls for the creation of alternative ontologies of everyday life that would transform the meanings of politics and justice. Inextricably linked to technoscience, these “alterontologies”—which Papadopoulos examines in a variety of contexts, from AIDS activism and the financialization of life to hacker communities and neuroscience—form the basis of ways of life that would embrace the more-than-social interdependence of the human and nonhuman worlds. Speaking to a matrix of concerns about politics and justice, social movements, matter and ontology, everyday practice, technoscience, the production of knowledge, and the human and nonhuman, Papadopoulos suggests that the development of alterontologies would create more efficacious political and social organizing.
