"Meek shares one important trait with (Ernie) Pyle. He tells good stories. To me that is the highest praise a writer can receive." Jim Kiser, Arizona Daily Star People who have known John Martin Meek know he has never been reluctant to express his opinions with one regrettable exception. In the Cabinet Room of the White House one evening, President Johnson went around the table to ask all present what he or she thought about the Vietnam War. To his deep regret, Meek failed to tell LBJ he honestly felt the war was going to destroy his presidency. But by then the president was getting the same advice from The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King and other distinguished Americans. Moving from Washington, DC, to Southern Arizona in 1999, Meek began teaching journalism at Pima Community College (60,000 students) in Tucson and jumpstarted his journalism career by writing features and all but two of the columns included in this book. After leaving the University of Oklahoma journalism school, where he was editor of The Oklahoma Daily, Meek worked on newspapers in Texas and New York while earning an MA in communications at Syracuse University. He then had a long and, to him, exciting career in political and private sector public affairs in New York, Chicago and primarily in Washington, DC. He has drawn from these experiences for some of the columns in this book. Meek, writing under the pen name of John Martin Hill, is the author of "The Christmas Hour" (www.thechristmashour.com), a novel set in Washington, DC, and editor of a book of photos of the Johnson presidency.

In a world where atheism is a growing movement, especially in the university setting, it’s typical for students today to face doubts about the Christian faith. In fact, many have wondered at one time or another if the Bible stories about Jesus could possibly be true. Is there any way to back up what we’ve heard with real evidence? Can false information be discredited with historical proof? Now students can join Greg Monette as he explores the fascinating basis for belief in the biblical Jesus. Readers can trek through the ancient historical sources, biblical archaeology, and recent discoveries to uncover the facts about what Jesus really said and did—His birth, His miracles, His claims, and His resurrection. Written for believers, skeptics, and the non-expert, this book will help readers discover where history and faith collide— and it just might change everything.

From tween advocate for limb difference and founder of Project Unicorn Jordan Reeves and her mom, Jen, comes an inspiring memoir about how every kid is perfect just the way they are. When Jordan Reeves was born without the bottom half of her left arm, the doctors reassured her parents that she was “born just right.” And she has been proving that doctor right ever since! With candor, humor, and heart, Jordan’s mother, Jen Lee Reeves, helps Jordan tell her story about growing up in an able-bodied world and family, where she was treated like all of her siblings and classmates—and where she never felt limited. Whether it was changing people’s minds about her capabilities, trying all kinds of sports, or mentoring other kids, Jordan has channeled any negativity into a positive, and is determined to create more innovations for people just like her. Her most famous invention, aptly called Project Unicorn, is a special prosthetic (that shoots glitter!) made with the help of a 3-D printer. A real-life superhero, Jordan is changing the world with her foundation, Born Just Right, which advocates and celebrates kids with differences, and helps them live their best possible life—just like Jordan is today!

DescriptionAngel Just-Rights tells of a plethora of mortifyingly unhealthy, demoralising, ritualistic and compelling behaviours that manifest deeply in a fragile life so touched by the world around her. This is an exclusive account, based on the remarkable and true story of Rebecca Parker (also known as Micci), the Protagonist and Author. Laugh! Shout! Cry, as we're finally invited to join this incredible quest for freedom. Delving into issues relating to everyday living such as dealing with strict family values, loyalty and devotion, the author intermittently riddles with her reader in efforts to gain the yearned-for rationality and reassurance she so desperately seeks. During chaotic deciphering, Parker encounters incongruence in evaluations as, how can implicitly pure intentions - living life selflessly protecting those you love - precipitate such devastating results? Parker gradually learns how coping in silence can cruelly fester, hastening devastating consequences: severe eating disorders (Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia), post-traumatic stresses and flash-backs, self-harm and suicidal desires, problems with extreme over-exercise and increasing obsessions, rituals, distorted beliefs leading to incredibly debilitating episodes of low self-esteem, depression, hospitalisations, sectioning under the Mental Health Act and associated inequitable treatments enforced.

Sometimes high school senior Jonathan Aubrey wishes he could just disappear. And as luck—or fate—would have it, he can. Ever since coming out of a coma as a kid, he has been able to create alternate worlds. Worlds where he is heroic, desirable, or simply a better version of himself. That’s the world he’s been escaping to most often, a world where he has everything he doesn’t have in real life: friends, a place of honor on the track team, passing grades, and most importantly, Kylie Simms as his girlfriend. But when Jonathan confuses his worlds and tries to kiss the real Kylie Simms, everything unravels. The real Kylie suddenly notices Jonathan…and begins obsessing over him. The fantasy version of Kylie struggles to love Jonathan as she was created to do, and the consequences are disastrous. As his worlds collide, Jonathan must confront the truth of his power and figure out where he actually belongs—before he loses both Kylies forever.

Do you want law or justice? Find the answer to this thought-provoking and revolutionary question and others. This book is a call for the right to justice as an inherent fundamental right. It brings a new way to thought on the relationship between the state and the individual. When the citizen is the holder of rights and not a subject of the benevolence of the state, the fundamental right to justice is the fulcrum for balance in society and consciousness. Told with the real life experiences of children and families seeking justice, this paves the way for both humanity as well as India’s vision of the year 2100, where equality, freedom and security are ensured through the effective foundation and umbrella of justice. The book also proposes a way of enhancing the spiritual consciousness of an individual on the path of justice through practicing ‘JUSTIVISM’ as being just in thoughts and actions. This is Bhuwan Ribhu’s second book following the inventive bestseller “When Children Have Children”.
