Welcome back to Maidenwell, where the Christmas snow is falling—but so are the bodies. Hired as the eyes and ears of eccentric billionaire Matthias Loneskum, Gina Biletti thought she’d signed up for a tranquil life in Maidenwell, enjoying cozy tea shops, quaint cottages, and harmless village gossip. Little did she know that the holiday season would bring a chilling turn to the village’s idyllic charms. As Christmas approaches, an engagement party for Matthias’ overachieving sister, Beatrix, sets the stage for murder and mystery. And everyone on the guest list has their own agenda: a bewitching young nun, a suspiciously suave ex-con, an enigmatic foreign businessman, and a group of ambitious young tech entrepreneurs competing for a $5 million start-up prize. Just as Gina decides maybe, just maybe, she can relax and enjoy her mulled wine, a gunshot rings out, disrupting a Christmas outing in Maidenwell’s snowy forest. Before you can say “figgy pudding,” tragedy strikes again with a jaw-dropping “suicide,” flipping Gina’s cozy world on its head. As if on cue, a massive winter storm seals the village up like a snow globe, and Gina faces a dreadful realization. She is trapped with a cunning and cold-blooded killer. Can she unravel the truth before another body falls, or will this be her first and last Christmas in Maidenwell? Book Two in the Murderwell Mysteries series, AND THEN THERE WAS NUN, is a suspenseful Christmas romp, garnished with humor, unexpected twists, and a dash—or maybe a blizzard—of holiday charm. About the Sleuth Gina Biletti is a spunky ex-New Yorker, ex-market researcher, and ex-wife with a talent for asking questions and uncovering secrets. Armed with a cat-like curiosity and a passion for telling it like it is, Gina becomes billionaire Matthias Loneskum’s trusted eyes and ears in Maidenwell. With each case, she fearlessly unravels mysteries, deciphering cryptic clues and untangling motives with a razor wit and a big heart.

James Joyce’s evocations of his characters’ thoughts are often inserted within a commonplace that regards the mind as an interior space, referred to as the ‘inward turn’ in literary scholarship since the mid-twentieth century. Emma-Louise Silva reassesses this vantage point by exploring Joyce’s modernist fiction through the prism of 4E – or embodied, embedded, extended, and enactive – cognition. By merging the 4E framework with cognitive-genetic narratology, an innovative form of inquiry that brings together the study of the dynamics of writing processes and the study of cognition in relation to narratives, Modernist Minds: Materialities of the Mental in the Works of James Joyce delves into the material stylistic choices through which Joyce’s approaches to mind depiction evolved.

The first book to go beyond the scandal and distraction of the world's most infamous local politician, and reveal what drives Rob Ford and the many voters who steadfastly support him. Eye-opening and at times frightening, The Only Average Guy cuts through the uproar that followed Ford everywhere. A journalist before entering politics, Filion peels back the layers of an extremely complicated man. Weaving together the personal and political stories, he explains how Ford's tragic weaknesses helped propel him to power before leading to his inevitable failure. Through Ford, the book also explains the growing North American phenomenon by which angry voters are attracted to outspoken candidates flaunting outrageous flaws. For fifteen years, Toronto city councillor John Filion has had an uncommon relationship with Rob Ford. Sitting two seats away from the wildly unpredictable councillor from Etobicoke, who served as mayor from 2010 to 2014, Filion formed an unlikely camaraderie that allowed him to look beyond Rob's red-faced persona, seeing a boy still longing for the approval of his father, struggling with the impossible expectations of a family that fancied itself a political dynasty.

How does an introverted student with a visual or auditory learning preference find success in a classroom built for extroverted kinesthetic learners? While student discussion in the classroom is invaluable, it also presents an issue for many students, not only in how they feel in the class setting, but in how they ultimately learn. Given the emerging understanding of differing personality types and learning preference, it is questionable whether all students are served by socially active methods that mandate students to speak. Learning and Personality documents how introverted and intrapersonal students are being subjected to uncomfortable situations in schools today. This book focuses on the classroom experience of students who have been identified as learning best through reflection and observation. The author uses an American college writing class as the setting to explore the in-depth experience of common first year students. The results of this primary qualitative study reveal a glaring conflict within mainstream educational theory. With more than five years of research and over one hundred references cited from sources that span two centuries, this book calls attention to a mass misunderstanding of introversion, as well as the effects of instructional methods that appeal to only one type of personality.

"WHAT LIES BEHIND grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go. Ellison is a great talent—enjoy." —Catherine Coulter, #1 New York Times bestselling author Books 3 and 4 in the Dr. Samantha Owens series by New York Times bestselling author J.T. Ellison. When Shadows Fall Forensic pathologist Dr. Samantha Owens thought life was finally returning to normal, when she receives a letter from a dead man imploring her to solve his murder. There's only one catch. Timothy Savage's death was ruled a suicide. When Sam learns Savage left a will requesting she autopsy his body, she feels compelled to do it. Sam discovers clear signs that Savage was murdered and she finds DNA from a kidnapped child whose remains were recovered years earlier. Nothing about the case makes sense, but it is clear someone is unwilling to let anyone, especially Samantha Owens, discover the truth. What Lies Behind Waking to sirens in the night is hardly unusual for Samantha Owens. No longer a medical examiner, she doesn't lose sleep over them, but a routine police investigation in her neighborhood has her curious. When her homicide detective friend, Darren Fletcher, invites her to look over the evidence, she immediately realizes the crime scene was staged. What seems to be a clear case of murder/suicide is anything but. The discovery of toxic substances in hidden vials indicates that something much more sinister is at play? Unsure who to trust, Sam and Fletch find themselves up against very powerful people at every stage in the investigation. No one is who they appear to be. It's Sam's most complex case yet and the terrifying reality is beyond anything she could have imagined. More Praise "Shocking suspense, compelling characters and fascinating forensic details." —Lisa Gardner, #1 New York Times bestselling author "A terrific thriller…fans of forensic mysteries, such as those by Patricia Cornwell, should immediately add this series to their A-lists." —Booklist

This publication is a continuation of two earlier series of chroni cles, Philosophy in the Mid-Century (Firenze 1958/59) and Con temporary Philosophy (Firenze 1968), edited by Raymond Kli bansky. Like the other series, these chronicles provide a survey of important trends in contemporary philosophical discussion from 1966 to 1980. The need for such surveys has, I believe, increased rather than decreased over the last years. The philosophical scene appears, for various reasons, more complex than ever before. The continuing process of specialization in most branches, the emergence of new schools of thought, particularly in philosophical logic and the philosophy of language, the convergence of interest (though not necessarily of opinion) of different traditions upon certain prob lems, and the increasing attention being paid to the history of philosophy in discussions of contemporary problems are the most important contributory factors. Surveys of the present kind are a valuable source of knowledge of this complexity and may as such be an assistance in renewing the understanding of one's own phi losophical problems. The surveys, it is to be hoped, may also help to strengthen the Socratic element of modem philosophy, the dialogue or Kommunikationsgemeinscha/t. • So far, four volumes have been· prepared for the new series. The present chronicles in the Philosophy of Mind (Vol. 4) follow upon chronicles in the Philosophy of Language and Philosophical Logic (Vol. 1) and chronicles in the Philosophy 0/ Science (Vol. 2) and chronicles in the Philosophy 0/ Action (Vol. 4).
