The unbelievable true story of three pilots flying a routine Federal Express flight who must call on their inner courage, strength, and ability to stop a bitter, suicidal hijacker from killing them, and thousands of people below. David Sanders, Jim Tucker, and Andy Peterson had taken off on a regular “out-and-back,” delivering and picking up packages for FedEx’s next-day service. They had one jumpseat passenger, an off-duty colleague who they assumed was simply taking advantage of the FedEx perk allowing virtually all employees to ride the company jets for free. The shock came twenty minutes later. Before the plane had reached its normal cruising altitude, the lone passenger attacked the pilots with hammers and a spear gun. He’d had his diabolical plan in the works for months: by crashing the plane into the Federal Express Memphis hub, he’d ruin the company, which he felt had treated him unfairly. With superhuman strength fueled by sheer fury, the attacker struck the pilots again and again. What he didn’t count on was the skill and intelligence of the pilots. While Sanders and Peterson tried to stop the relentless battering, copilot Tucker swung the aircraft into dangerous flight maneuvers in an attempt to literally knock the man off his feet. In Hijacked, Dave Hirschman vividly re-creates this hair-raising battle of wills, giving each pilot’s point of view and drawing on his own experiences as a pilot to take us inside that fateful day.

Technology surrounds us every day: a phone alarm wakes us up, an electronic calendar tracks assignment deadlines, GPS directs us to the new dentist’s office, social media keeps us connected to friends and family, and streaming platforms make sure we’re never without something new to binge-watch. Our devices and apps can make life much more convenient and entertaining. But for years, scientists have warned that too much screen time may have negative effects on our health. With portable devices and remote learning, it is even more difficult to put down electronics. Being intentional about how and when to unplug can help teens and young adults to protect their physical and mental wellbeing in a world where screens and technology are increasingly becoming necessities rather than just conveniences. Attention Hijacked offers a roadmap for those deciding how they want to deal with technology, exploring the ways technology affects the individual, dispelling common misinformation, and using this knowledge to make personalized decisions. Page Plus links in the book lead to mindfulness and meditation audio clips. Using mindfulness techniques, this book gives readers the power to take charge of their technology use.

The first four volumes of Hijacked!, How Dr. King’s Dream Became a Nightmare explores the goals that must be achieved and the methods that must be used to fix what is wrong with America. However, these things have been hijacked by super natural spiritual forces and caused the once unthinkable devastating nightmare in America, which we are now experiencing. This Nightmare has been orchestrated by spiritually dark forces who must be dealt with through an effective, super natural, spiritual warfare prayer strategy. Nothing else—but this—will solve the demonic insanity that is occurring all over America today! In Volume 5, The Demonic, everything that “We the People” need to do this and bring America back from the brink of total decline and destruction is explored in detail. The demonic insanity that is so widespread in America today is clearly demonstrated by such things as critical race theory, social justice, transgenderism, the open-boarder policy, the war-on-fossil-fuel/the climate-control policy, an obsession with renewing the JCPOA Iran nuclear argument, the love affair of African-Americans with the people that clearly hate them, and the love affair of Jewish-Americans and others with the people that clearly hate them. The volumes respectively of Hijacked! are The Dream, The Hijack, The Nightmare, The Recovery, and The Demonic. All of these things are a very clear demonstration that most Americans have rejected the God-given dream goals and dream methods of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and are instead being taught how to live by demons.

This book, written from the perspective of a practicing primary care physician, interweaves patientsÕ stories with fascinating new brain research to show how addictive drugs overtake basic brain functions and transform them to create a chronic illness that is very difficult to treat. The idea that drug and alcohol addiction are chronic illnesses and not character flaws is not newsÑthis notion has been around for many years. What Hijacked Brains offers is context and personal stories that demonstrate this point in a very accessible package. Dr. Barnes explores how the healthy brain works, how addictive drugs flood basic reward pathways, and what it feels like to grapple with addiction. She discusses how, for individuals, the combination of genetic and environmental factors determines both vulnerability for addiction and the resilience necessary for recovery. Finally, she shows how American culture, with its emphasis on freewill and individualism, tends to blame the addict for bad choices and personal weakness, thereby impeding political and/or health-related efforts to get the addict what she needs to recover.

This is the story of a hijacking. History records it began just after midnight March 6th, 1969 when I forced National Airlines Flight 97 to Cuba. But the true hijacking really began many years before when I was a child working with my dad cleaning up bars in San Bernardino, California. It began the first time my father blocked a door and tried to wash off the word "nigger" without me seeing it. It began with the sexual assault on a young boy in San Francisco. And it continued with a needle in my arm and a gun in my hand. I lost my dreams, my hopes and my future on a journey that took me from the back alleys of West Coast America to the cellblocks of San Quentin, Folsom, Soledad and slave camps in Cuba. In the end I realized it was I who had been hijacked, deceived by those I most admired: Karl Marx, Angela Davis, Jesse Jackson, Fidel Castro, Gus Hall, Jane Fonda, Che Guevara and a whole planeload of others. - Prologue.

What is the appropriate political response to mass atrocity? In Hijacked Justice, Jelena Subotic traces the design, implementation, and political outcomes of institutions established to deal with the legacies of violence in the aftermath of the Yugoslav wars. She finds that international efforts to establish accountability for war crimes in the former Yugoslavia have been used to pursue very different local political goals.Responding to international pressures, Serbia, Croatia, and Bosnia have implemented various mechanisms of "transitional justice"—the systematic addressing of past crimes after conflicts end. Transitional justice in the three countries, however, was guided by ulterior political motives: to get rid of domestic political opponents, to obtain international financial aid, or to gain admission to the European Union. Subotic argues that when transitional justice becomes "hijacked" for such local political strategies, it fosters domestic backlash, deepens political instability, and even creates alternative, politicized versions of history. That war crimes trials (such as those in The Hague) and truth commissions (as in South Africa) are necessary and desirable has become a staple belief among those concerned with reconstructing societies after conflict. States are now expected to deal with their violent legacies in an institutional setting rather than through blanket amnesty or victor's justice. This new expectation, however, has produced paradoxical results. In order to avoid the pitfalls of hijacked justice, Subotic argues, the international community should focus on broader and deeper social transformation of postconflict societies, instead on emphasizing only arrests of war crimes suspects.

What was the intelegence failure that led to the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight IC814 from Kathmandu? Could the aircraft have been stopped at Amritsar airport? Was a commando raid planned on the aircraft? How was Rupin Katyal killed? Was the plane's destination always intended to be Kandahar? Was it merely prophetic that the hijackers had predicted the end of all negotiations on the millennium eve? These and other questions are answered in this blow-by-blow eyewitness account by Flight Engineer Anil K Jaggia who breaks the silence around the hijacking, with investigative reporting by senior correspondent Saurabh Shukla of The Indian Express
