Learn to communicate with your dog—using their language “Good reading for dog lovers and an immensely useful manual for dog owners.”—The Washington Post An Applied Animal Behaviorist and dog trainer with more than twenty years’ experience, Dr. Patricia McConnell reveals a revolutionary new perspective on our relationship with dogs—sharing insights on how “man’s best friend” might interpret our behavior, as well as essential advice on how to interact with our four-legged friends in ways that bring out the best in them. After all, humans and dogs are two entirely different species, each shaped by its individual evolutionary heritage. Quite simply, humans are primates and dogs are canids (as are wolves, coyotes, and foxes). Since we each speak a different native tongue, a lot gets lost in the translation. This marvelous guide demonstrates how even the slightest changes in our voices and in the ways we stand can help dogs understand what we want. Inside you will discover: • How you can get your dog to come when called by acting less like a primate and more like a dog • Why the advice to “get dominance” over your dog can cause problems • Why “rough and tumble primate play” can lead to trouble—and how to play with your dog in ways that are fun and keep him out of mischief • How dogs and humans share personality types—and why most dogs want to live with benevolent leaders rather than “alpha wanna-bes!” Fascinating, insightful, and compelling, The Other End of the Leash is a book that strives to help you connect with your dog in a completely new way—so as to enrich that most rewarding of relationships.

This illustrated book of advice on love, dating, and friendship—written by and for queer women and people of marginalized genders—is the new go-to queer relationship handbook. Fix yourself a cup of non-caffeinated herbal tea and prepare to laugh, cry, reminisce, and feel your feelings as you read through these quintessentially queer dating dilemmas. In The Ex-Girlfriend of My Ex-Girlfriend Is My Girlfriend, advice columnist Maddy Court (a.k.a. Xena Worrier Princess) answers anonymous queries from lesbian, bisexual, and queer women and people of marginalized genders. Illustrated by comics artist Kelsey Wroten and based on Court's viral zine of the same name, this book features never-before-published letters and responses about first loves, heartbreak, coming out, and queer friendship—all answered with the warmth and honesty of the gay big sister you wish you had. • BY QUEERS, FOR QUEERS: This book was written by and for queer women and people of marginalized genders. The questions reflect real experiences that aren't often represented in the media, and the answers offer an important reminder that loving ourselves takes patience, effort, and the support of our friends and communities. • EXCITING DEBUT AUTHOR: In 2018, Maddy Court made the leap from creating niche lesbian memes on Instagram to writing and distributing a series of zines. Never preachy or dismissive, Court offers advice that is sympathetic and straightforward—it's equal parts refreshing vulnerability and remarkable wisdom. • GORGEOUS ILLUSTRATION: Kelsey Wroten's art brings the letters to life, immersing the reader in all the joys and disappointments of the contributors who wrote in from all over the world. In addition to the traditional illustrations, each chapter features a paneled mini-comic that speaks to the different themes. • AMAZING GUEST EXPERTS: Because one queer cannot possible hold all the answers, The Ex-Girlfriend of My Ex-Girlfriend Is My Girlfriend also includes advice from an incredible roster of guest experts. Author and comedian Samantha Irby; musicians JD Samson and Ellen Kempner; and writers and activists Tyler Ford, Kalyn Heffernan, Lola Pellegrino, and Mey Rude all tackle questions on long-distance breakups, jealousy, love triangles, making friends, and more. Perfect for: • Lesbian, bisexual, and queer women and people of marginalized genders with questions about dating, friendship, and life • Fans of the Ex-Girlfriend zine series and followers of @Xenaworrierprincess • Fans of Kelsey Wroten's graphic novels and art

Adolph Hitler's life divides into five major categories: his life as a young man, his experiences in World War 1, the gaining of ultimate power, the gambles he took on a possible war, and his final defeat. As a young man he consistently chose to fight one of his parents, to reject the educational system, to live isolated from others as much as possible, never to love anyone again because of a death in the family, and finally to live as a homeless street person for four years. His experiences in World War 1gave him the opportunity to view war as the greatest of all human achievements and a necessary experience which all humans should go through. On his way to gaining ultimate power in Germany he practiced turning likely defeats into victory. His secret of dealing with seeming defeats was to never yield an inch to his enemies at any point. When facing a choice between comradeship and power he chose power. Hitler was a gambler. He gambled on war when he marched into the Rhineland, into Austria and into Czechoslovakia. Each time his gamble paid off. He took the chance again in Poland and the West, but miscalculated. However, he did get to shed blood, which he felt was his calling and destiny. Adolf Hitler had two goals, which led to his final defeat: the destruction of Communism and the annihilation of the Jews. His greatest risk was the invasion of the Soviet Union. His unyielding personality and unwillingness to admit a mistake caused him to make major military blunders such as Stalingrad and the Normandy Invasion. Unable to defeat the Communist he concluded that the Jews must be destroyed at all costs even if it meant losing the war. Hitler ended as a suicide in his underground bunker in Berlin. His last year was spent as a physical wreck, feeling extreme self-pity, and blaming others for his mistakes. In his last few days he married the person closest to him, his mistress, Eva Braun. He gave instructions to a close adjutant to destroy all his papers. This book is a supposed account of what his life was like in his own writings: how he became the man he was!

This book offers original insights into cultural transformations of the sensory with particular emphasis on environments and technologies, articulating a special moment in the sensory history of urban Europe as people’s relationship with their environment is increasingly shaped through digital technologies. It is a much-needed addition to Sensory Studies literature with its firmly grounded empirical and theoretical perspectives. It provides radical and impactful food for thought on sensory engagements with urban environments. After reading the book, the reader will have a profound understanding of the original methodology of sensobiographic walking, as well as transdisciplinary and transgenerational ethnographies in different cultural contexts – in this case three European cities. The book is aimed at a large audience of readers. It is equally useful for social and human scientists and students finalizing their MA degrees or working on their doctoral or post-doctoral work, and essential reading for environmental planners, youth workers, city planners and architects, among others.
