Approximately 75 per cent of the irrigated land in the Nebraska counties through which the Republican River flows was planted to corn in 1950. It is anticipated the that farmer on newly irrigated lands will also be primarily interested in growing corn. Of the many practices that are important for corn production, this bulletin consideres only the influence of stand, soil fertility level, and irrigation practice. Experimental results obtainded in the Republican Valley at Arapahoe and Superior, on the Tri-Country Farm at Holdrege, on the North Platte and Scotts Bluff Experiment Station and at various locations in central and eastern Nebraska are used to point out the possible influence of the three factors on corn production in the Republican Valley.
