The literature on migration realities in Europe is usually centered around the role played by the EU on member states’ migration policies. In order to offer a comparative cross-country approach, previous research often allows too much to fall through the cracks. Facets of Migration in Contemporary Europe: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Specific Challenges directly addresses this issue. Through its multidisciplinary approach, it includes contributions ranging from policy-oriented chapters dedicated to the role of low-skilled and 'illegal' migrants to the securitization of migration in Europe as well as the role of Diasporas and language policies for the integration of migrants. The Figure of the Migrant in Contemporary European Cinema explores contemporary debates around the concepts of 'Europe' and 'European identity' through an examination of recent European films dealing with various aspects of globalization (the refugee crisis, labour migration, the resurgence of nationalism and ethnic violence, neoliberalism, post-colonialism) with a particular attention to the figure of the migrant and the ways in which this figure challenges us to rethink Europe and its core Enlightenment values (citizenship, justice, ethics, liberty, tolerance, and hospitality) in a post-national context of ephemerality, volatility, and contingency that finds people desperately looking for firmer markers of identity. The book argues that a compelling case can be made for re-orienting the study of contemporary European cinema around the figure of the migrant viewed both as a symbolic figure (representing post-national citizenship, urbanization, the 'gap' between ethics and justice) and as a figure occupying an increasingly central place in European cinema in general rather than only in what is usually called 'migrant and diasporic cinema'. By drawing attention to the structural and affective affinities between the experience of migrants and non-migrants, Europeans and non-Europeans, Trifonova shows that it is becoming increasingly difficult to separate stories about migration from stories about life under neoliberalism in general

Migration crisis, which began in the EU states in April 2015 in connection with uncontrolled flow of refugees and migrants from zones of armed conflicts in middle East as well as in number of African and Asian states with unfavorable socio-economic conditions caused extremely negative effect on the internal political situation and the perspectives of the development of both individual Member States of the EU and European community as a whole. Being one of globalization process manifestation, migration in large causes positive influence on social, economic and political development of states, contributes to integration of integration of international community , cultural convergence of peoples, development of productive forces. However, if migration processes have uncontrolled character, the level of state security is significantly reducing. Especially it has to be considered in the present period when global community faces terrorist threats and violence. The relevance of my master thesis is stipulated by exacerbation of illegal immigration problem due to widening of the EU in recent times, which entailed improvement of national legislations and the European Law in this field. Thus, there is a necessity of the analysis of the EU law application experience in sphere of tackling the illegal migration.
