Here, killer, killer, killer . . . For the first time in sixteen years, Lara Caphart has returned to her hometown of Whisker Jog, New Hampshire. She wants to reconnect with her estranged Aunt Fran, who’s having some difficulty looking after herself—and her eleven cats. Taking care of a clowder of kitties is easy, but keeping Fran from being harassed by local bully Theo Barnes is hard. The wealthy builder has his sights set on Fran’s property, and is determined to make her an offer she doesn’t dare refuse. Then Lara spots a blue-eyed ragdoll cat that she swears is the reincarnation of her beloved Blue, her childhood pet. Pursuing the feline to the edge of Fran’s yard, she stumbles upon the body of Theo Barnes, clearly a victim of foul play. To get her and Fran off the suspect list, Lara finds herself following the cat’s clues in search of a killer. Is Blue’s ghost really trying to help her solve a murder, or has Lara inhaled too much catnip? Praise for Linda Reilly’s Deep Fried Mysteries “I thoroughly enjoyed this puzzler of a mystery. "Alfred Wetzler was a true hero. His escape from Auschwitz, and the report he helped compile, telling for the first time the truth about the camp as a place of mass murder, led directly to saving the lives of 120,000 Jews: the Jews of Budapest who were about to be deported to their deaths. No other single act in the Second World War saved so many Jews from the fate that Hitler and the SS had determined for them. This book tells Wetzler's story." - Sir Martin Gilbert "Wetzler is a master at evoking the universe of Auschwitz, and especially, his and Vrba's harrowing flight to Slovakia. The day-by-day account of the tremendous difficulties the pair faced after the Nazis had called off their search of the camp and its surroundings is both riveting and heart wrenching. ...] Shining vibrantly through the pages of the memoir are the tenacity and valor of two young men, who sought to inform the world about the greatest outrage ever committed by humans against their fellow humans." - From Introduction by Dr Robert Rozett] Together with another young Slovak Jew, both of them deported in 1942, the author succeeded in escaping from the notorious death camp in the spring of 1944. There were some very few successful escapes from Auschwitz during the war, but it was these two who smuggled out the damning evidence - a ground plan of the camp, constructional details of the gas chambers and crematoriums and, most convincingly, a label from a canister of Cyclone gas. The present book is cast in the form of a novel to allow factual information not personally collected by the two fugitives, but provided for them by a handful of reliable friends, to be included. Nothing, however, has been invented. It is a shocking account of Nazi genocide and of the inhuman conditions in the camp, but equally shocking is the initial disbelief the fugitive's revelations met with after their return. Ewald Osers has translated over 150 books and received many translation prizes and honours.

Enjoy this FREE dystopian, genetic engineering series by bestselling science-fantasy author L. S. O'Dea. Every year after harvest the weakest are removed from the encampment. None of them are ever seen or heard from again. Trinity’s only hope of escape lies in the forest. She’s not afraid of the creatures that live there. There’s nothing bigger than foxes in those woods, except this time something is different. This time she’s hunted from land and sea by predators that should only exist in legends. Surrounded by three enemies. Surrender is her only option, but which one should she choose? A captivating dystopian read filled with human-animal hybrids and creatures you’ve never even imagined. Fans of Daniel Young, Michael Anderle, and Anna Hackett will love this free science-fantasy, genetic engineering story. Author Interview Q. – Why should someone read the Lake of Sins series? If you're looking for your typical gentic engineering, post-apocalyptic, survival thriller then you should look somewhere else. This story has been described as a one-of-a-kind world created in a unique dystopian society. The characters in the series are human-animal hybrids—genetic mutations or evil experiments, is yet to be revealed. It's an entire new species of characters who don't fit in the typical genre categories of vampire, werewolf, witch, fairies or even angels and demons. The world of the Lake of Sins is segregated by class with the humans ruling supreme. In book one, Escape, Trinity unwittingly sets off a collision between the classes when she flees into the forest to find and free her friend only to discover the horrible fate of her kind. The books are fast paced with adventure and mutated creatures around every corner. There are legends that are truth and societal truths that are well guarded lies. All-in-all, it's a unique and exciting read and you should give it a try. I think you'll love it. The Chimera Chronicles series also takes place in the world of the Lake of Sins. These stories are prequels, explaining how some of the characters, who you meet in the Lake of Sins series, became monsters. Q. – Who should read the Lake of Sins series? Although there's a strong, female lead in Lake of Sins, the audience for both series is broad. I have fans (male and female) aged ten through eighty. Anyone who likes gory thrillers that are dark, a little disturbing and packed with action will enjoy these books. However, a word of caution is in order. These books are not for the squeamish. Some scenes are bloody and violent almost falling into the horror genre, but the interactions between the characters are funny, poignant and loving (and a love triangle develops as the stories progress). Still, I wouldn't recommend these books to anyone under thirteen without the parents reading the books first.
