Those wicked wizards are back—and they've become very smart. Sort of. They intend to take over the Enchanted Forest once and for all…unless Queen Cimorene finds a way to stop them. And she just might be able to with some help from a dragon king, a witch, a magician, two cats, and a blue, flying donkey-rabbit named Killer. “Zany…humorous…madcap. Combining suspense, playfulness, and witty repartee, the story is just good fun.”—Booklist “A treat from start to finish.”—VOYA “A captivating and convincing fantasy that sets the stage (and whets the appetite) for future adventures.”—School Library Journal “Laugh-aloud funny.”—Kirkus Reviews

A young boy has a mind full of wonderful stories but when he writes them down, day after day, they come back covered in red pen after his teachers have corrected his spelling. It seems his dyslexia will always hold him back from sharing his creativity the way he longs to. Then a new teacher arrives at the school! Mr Watson tells magical stories and draws wonderful pictures. He makes his students feel safe. He inspires them to be themselves. He doesn't cover the boy's stories in red pen -- and with this newfound acceptance the boy finally feels comfortable to just write! My Storee is a story of hope and acceptance into a world of literature that can too often seem impossible or difficult for dyslexic children to enter because of the rules that surround it. It highlights the magic and importance of 'story', the ideas and the creativity behind literature that are too often taught out of children through an over-emphasis on teaching them rules, structure and spelling. It is an engaging and creatively designed picture book that provides inspiration and support for reluctant writers and dyslexics, and shows the importance and power of good teachers. It is also the story of Paul Russell, the author, who as a dyslexic boy was inspired to become the writer and teacher he is today because of one teacher who believed in him.

I saved the world... but for me it’s a death sentence. I'm a dragon shifter—the biggest, baddest supernatural in the world—so absorbing the magic of the spell web into my body seemed like a good idea. It solved all our problems, and the humans went back to being oblivious of the magic that exist under their noses. Except it didn't quite work like that. Turns out I'm not as strong as I thought I was. If the government or the underworld criminals don't get me first, the magic of the spell web is gonna destroy me, piece by piece. As if that isn't enough to deal with, there's a new threat in town... a plague of demons that could wipe out the supernatural and human races combined. I'm back to saving the world. Except this time, I might not make it to the end. If you love Patricia Briggs's outcast shifter Mercy Thompson or Shannon Mayer's tracker Rylee Adamson... you'll want to check out Trudi Jaye's kick-butt dragon shifter, Mei Walker. I like to joke how this is sort of two novels which kinda got merged. This occurred whenever inflicted with “burn out” during those heavy days I pounded on the computer keyboard writing, Three Cheers for Father Donovan. For anyone who’s never done it, let me attest as to how the necessary research and the required language translations extract a costly toll. {Latin is the official language of the Holy See. Yes, some Vatican documents are translated into English, but many are not.} Thus, it is agony to enjoy the ecstasy for me to say, “J.D., you did good job.” And it happens only when it’s over... It never fails. I always embark on writing one of these grandiose, epic historical novels completely cognizant of the scope, but utterly ignorant of the scale. Such was the case writing The Bolsheviks...Three Cheers for Father Donovan...The Black Madonna to some degree. It is a one to four year odyssey in which I will ask myself many times, “J.D., is this really worth it?” It must be. I always persevere until completion. However, in search of a diversion, I would—from time to time—seek escape by prattling about the exploits of the Rearchek, Langer, Machado, and Benelli families. Nothing much. Twenty pages here. Thirty pages there. In the end, I found myself with a lore of exactly two hundred pages when it came time to submit my manuscript, Three Cheers for Father Donovan, to the publisher. Then came, The Pontchartrain Connection. I never experience a need for any “down time” when I wrote that novel. For some reason, with that novel, I was in a state of perpetual “writer’s groove” from start to finish. {Writer’s groove is what I call that weird clarity of knowing full well beforehand as to where this is all going and how my characters will get there.} Once again, after handing my publisher the manuscript for, The Pontchartrain Connection, I did find myself examining those two hundred pages and saying, “J.D., let’s finish it.” So I did. Hence, everything from the point when Sherrie and Sheba fall in love onward constitutes the new novel. Everything prior to that is the old. As my copy-editor, Mandy, told me after a review of my old script, “Gee, J.D., why all the sex?” Answer: “I was toying around when I wrote it.” So, why in the hell am I boring my readers to death with this whining confession as to why I wrote what amounts to a trashy potboiler? Well folks, the answer to that is two-fold: One, it makes for a fun read. Two, another epic is in the works. Yes, it’s about to happen all over again. I am now toiling with my attempt to mate Mary Shelly’s novel, Frankenstein, with Dale Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code. The outcome will be something I call, The Maltese Messiah. Now, there is some good news: I have in the works not one, but two novels to fall back on should I need a break...The sequel to this novel, The Unholy Family, and the follow-on novel, The Run for the Roses... May the God of Our Fathers be with me!

A forgotten dragon and a magical girl set out to find Vienna’s missing dragons in this YA fantasy novel: “Extraordinary—not to be missed” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review). Grisha is a dragon in a world that’s forgotten how to see him. Maggie is an unusual child who thinks she’s perfectly ordinary. They’re an unlikely duo—but magic, like friendship, is funny. And it has chosen Grisha and Maggie to solve the darkest mystery in Vienna. Decades ago, when World War II broke out, someone decided that there were too many dragons for all of them to be free. As they investigate, Grisha and Maggie ask the questions everyone’s forgotten to ask: Where have the missing dragons gone? And is there a way to save them? At once richly magical and tragically historical, The Language of Spells is a novel full of adventure about remembering old stories, forging new ones, and the transformative power of friendship.
