The purpose of the symposium, which was the basis of these proceedings, was to discuss the technical and institutional aspects of water quality monitoring. This was accomplished by addressing four major components : 1. Surface water; 2. Soil water; 3. Ground water; and 4. Waste water and pollutant sources. These proceedings are unique in the breadth of treatment of the most important aspects of water quality monitoring. In depth, state-of-the-art articles are included, which together comprise a valuable collection of information on this topic.
