With help of these conclusions will be drawn upon the management of conflicts which most often leads to success in business. To complete the paper lessons learnt for more Russian joint ventures will be pointed out.

This contributed volume seeks to provide a unique window on the globalization process by analyzing the dynamics of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Europe and Asia, as well as its influence on the renewal of public policies and regulations, both transnational and local. It discusses the link between the trans-nationalization of productive and business systems and the renewal of local regulations in the light of concerns over competitiveness and attractiveness, as well as new social tensions. Multinational corporations (MNCs) as key actors of globalization are central for understanding the new interactions between the global, regional and local dimensions as well as for highlighting the challenges of regulation both at transnational level and within national boundaries. Research approaches along two broad lines are presented: First, a theoretical and empirical approach that examines links between the strategies of multinationals and local public policy in order to contribute to a better understanding of the institutional dynamics of social regulation. Second, a comparative approach that compares regional spaces, with particular attention to Europe on the one hand, and to the two great emerging powers, China and India, on the other.

Conflict practitioners, mediators, and intercultural trainers would be inspired by Professor Claude-Hélène Mayer’s creative integration of relevant intercultural models with do-able conflict strategies and in reaching intergroup harmony with reflexivity and cultural resonance. --- Professor Stella Ting-Toomey, Human Communication Studies, California State University at Fullerton, USA, and Co-Editor of The SAGE Handbook of Conflict Communication, 2e Given the difficulty and complexity of successful intercultural collaboration and conflict mediation, this is a much-needed addition to cross-cultural positive psychology. It is rich in content and training. I highly recommend it for teaching, corporate training, and for executive coaches. --- Professor Paul T.P. Wong, President International Network on Personal Meaning and President Meaning-Centered Counselling Institute, Toronto, Canada Intercultural conflict resolution is a critically important task in this modern world. This book by Professor Mayer is a welcome handbook on how to use mediation to resolve those conflicts. It should be in the library of every conflict mediator. My congratulations to Professor Mayer for her important work. --- Dan Landis, Founding President, International Academy of Intercultural Research, Affiliate Professor of Psychology, University of Hawaii

In the decades between the end of the cold war and the crisis of 2014, the country suffered a large decline in agricultural and industrial production, plunging economic indicators into a sharp decline and leading to large-scale poverty and hardship. This collection by leading scholars from the region explores the various crises affecting Ukraine since independence. Valuable crisis management research is made available from both Russian and Ukrainian sources and the on-going crisis in Ukraine put in context and analysed. Managing Global Supply Chains

Managing Global Supply Chains

Publisher: Taylor & Francis

Genre: Business & Economics
ISBN: 1000861430

What are the key factors affecting global supply chains today and how can we manage them? Starting from the concept that 'there is no point driving a Ferrari in a traffic jam', Ron Basu provides practical tools and techniques of good supply chain management to add value, deliver cost reduction and improve customer satisfaction. This new edition specifically focuses on seven contemporary challenges that have affected global supply chain management. Recent disruptions to global supply chains created by COVID-19 and the Ukraine conflict have resulted in significant geographical shifts in supply and demand. High inflation and the cost of living crisis have, in turn, created problems for finely-tuned global supply chains. The economic and business environment has also become more demanding, due in part to political pressures including nationalism and Brexit: for example, supply chain pressures caused by Brexit have resulted in increased red tape. Other factors have had a gradual and positive effect, such as climate change initiatives, Industry 4.0 and the digital revolution. The issues that affect the performance of global supply chains are sometimes interrelated, but all of them really matter because businesses have become increasingly global. This book addresses these challenges and explores how to deal with them. In addition, there are new and updated chapters on lean and agile supply chains, e-business, emerging markets, sustainability and green issues, global supply chains for services and event management, retail management and major project management. Managing Global Supply Chains is a practical and highly readable text with real-life examples and excellent coverage. It is an ideal companion for post-experience business students, learning professionals and anyone interested in supply chain management.
