Stand-up comedy helped me find myself in business. It enabled me to break free of living outside of my heart and soul. It also helped me find my voice, be present, and stop doing things for reasons other than experiencing joy and fulfillment. The purpose of this book, therefore, is to provide those same lessons to you so you can say what you want, feel what you want, and do what you want to be the person you want to be. And yes, without getting fired. You know when people use sports analogies to describe a business situation—“par for the course,” “here’s the game plan,” or “dude, you just bit my ear off”? Clearly, you don’t need to be good at golf, football, or cannibalism to understand and use them. Likewise, you don’t need to be any kind of comedian, stand-up or otherwise, to get value from this book. These lessons are intended for business people who have never endeavored, and might never try, stand-up comedy. busi·ness A person’s regular occupation, profession, or trade, which, if left unchecked without fun, can lead to your soul being sucked dry and consequently morphing you into the equivalent of a stale Ritz cracker but, you know, without all the “cheddah.” com·e·dy The study of professional entertainment or amusement, consisting of jokes and satirical sketches, intended to make an audience laugh, and historically occupied by food service workers and the unemployed. Com·e·di·ol·o·gy Applying successful comedic techniques, traditionally used to amuse, entertain, or make an audience laugh, to your regular occupation, profession, or trade to enhance your daily effectiveness, fulfillment, and joy.

The Secret to Happiness and Success "Greed is good," said Gordon Gekko, played by Michael Douglas in the iconic movie Wall Street. Turns out, greed is not good. Beating the system and amassing material wealth may make an epic movie plot, but in real life, greed is the recipe for painful economic failure for business and society-and working men and women. All too often we are presented stories about extremely wealthy people who are held up as role models for a successful life. The truth is that wealth rarely guarantees happiness. This book looks to successful small and medium-sized companies contributing to communities, and the far-sighted corporate executives we never hear about who, while successful, are also happy. These are the true-life examples of corporate social responsibility that this book relies on to make its point. Peter Milewski tells you why and how you, personally, can feel good and do well by doing good too. He passionately believes that these are the secrets to personal and professional happiness and success. Learn about successful companies "doing good," such as TOMS Shoes, Newman's Own, Red Barn, and Ben & Jerry's and those that didn't (Countrywide Mortgage and Wells Fargo, among others). Exclusive interviews about corporate social responsibility with the CEOs of Eastern Bank (Bob Rivers), Envision Bank (Jim McDonough), Leader Bank (Sushil Tuli), and Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank (David Brennan and Dorothy Savarese).

The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) was passed by Congress in the fall of 2013 and signed into law by President Barack Obama on November 27, 2013. The DSCSA was Title II of the Drug Quality and Security Act (DQSA). The law establishes new requirements that must be administered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These requirements escalate over time from 2015 through 2023 in a series of stages. They include lot-based tracing of prescription pharmaceuticals from the manufacturer to the dispenser from 2015 through 2023 and serialization-based tracing after 2023. Drug manufacturers must apply unique identifiers on all prescription drug packages by November 2017 and repackagers, wholesale distributors and dispensers must begin to buy and sell products marked with those identifiers by November of 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively. This book explains the DSCSA, section by section, so that drug manufacturers, repackagers, wholesale distributors, dispensers, contract partners (CMOs, CPOs, 3PLs), solution providers, consultants, law firms, regulators and students can understand the text, the meaning and the significance of the law. The book also includes more than two dozen of the most informative RxTrace essays about various aspects of the DSCSA. These essays, by Dirk Rodgers, help to expose the implications of the law and provide the context necessary to understand its full impact on companies in the supply chain. In these essays, the latest FDA guidance related to the DSCSA, as of book publication, are explained. Praise for The Drug Supply Chain Security Act Explained, Second Edition: "Dirk Rodgers has an unparalleled knowledge of federal track and trace legislation. This book is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand and benefit from coming changes to the pharmaceutical supply chain." -- Adam J. Fein, Ph.D., president, Pembroke Consulting, Inc., and CEO, Drug Channels Institute "Through RxTrace, Dirk Rodgers has provided stakeholders valuable insights on DSCSA. As DSCSA has evolved, his questions and opinions have helped all the stakeholders understand compliance. Dirk's new book brings years of wisdom from RxTrace and more together in one volume." -- Napoleon Monroe, Managing Director, New Directions Technology Consulting, LLC "As dispensers entrusted with the last encounter for patient safety, it is important to have a venue for discussion on DSCSA implementation challenges amongst trading partners. In this book, Dirk provides his experience as a resource for companies to use to create solutions." -- Chris Chandler, PharmD, VP of USDM Healthcare
