“Through mantra practice, positive karma flows freely into our lives ... desires are fulfilled ... spiritual abilities manifest ... and we have moved another step forward toward moksha—complete spiritual freedom.” —Thomas Ashley-Farrand Karma: the consequence of all of your actions, decisions, thoughts, and emotions. According to Thomas Ashley-Farrand, karmic patterns from the past are always with you, affecting everything you do—for better or for worse. With Mantra Meditation, you will learn how to use genuine Sanskrit mantras to balance your chakras (your body's seven spinning energy-centers) to dissolve negative karma. “When you begin to chant these ancient formulas,” teaches Ashley-Farrand, “the petals on your chakras begin to resonate, and they pull in spiritual energy.” With Mantra Meditation—designed as a 40-day practice or a lifelong tool—your spiritual energy grows, your karma disperses, and your path clears to bring you everything you desire through the fusing of your own efforts and the infinite generosity of the universe. Includes 15 guided mantra meditations and instructions for Sanskrit pronunciation.

The twenty-first century has seen so many advancements—in technology, research, healthcare and education. We are now more connected through technology than our ancestors have ever been, yet we are more isolated and lonely than our ancestors ever were. The ease with which things are available to us has led to a fast-paced lifestyle. That lifestyle, accompanied by a bad diet and lack of exercise, can sometimes lead to dysregulated thoughts. Awareness of this anomaly, acceptance to change and finally, embracing tools to regulate our feelings, are required to ensure we lead balanced lives that centre our thoughts and emotions. In Ancient Chants for Modern Times, Aatmanika Ram harnesses the wisdom of some of the ancient beliefs and practices of her Indian roots, and suggests tools to help overcome any stressful situations that may arise. These suggestions are global in nature and are easy to follow irrespective of where you live. Apart from information on mantras/chants, this book also includes advice on the diet and yoga asanas to follow to ensure that the body and mind respond in a balanced proportion to any situation. This is the perfect guide to becoming emotionally stronger and stress-free in the long run.

An introduction to Zen chanting practice, with new accurate and chantable translations of the texts used in Zen centers and monasteries throughout the English-speaking world—by the renowned translator of Dogen and Ryokan. A Zen chant is like a compass that sets us in the direction of the awakened life; it is the dynamic, audible counterpart to the silent practice of zazen, or sitting meditation; and it is a powerful expression of the fact that practice happens in community. Here is a concise guide to Zen chants for practitioners, as well as for anyone who appreciates the beauty and profundity of the poetry in dharma. An introduction to the practice is followed by fresh and carefully considered translations and adaptations of thirty-five chants—some common and others less well known—along with illuminating commentary.

What the Heart Knows: Chants, Charms, and Blessings is a collection of poems to provide comfort, courage, and humor at difficult or daunting moments in life. It conjures forth laments, spells, invocations, chants, blessings, promises, songs, and charms. Here are pleas on how to repair a friendship, wishes to transform one’s life or to slow down time, charms to face the shame of a disapproving crowd, invocations to ask for forgiveness, to understand the mysteries of happiness, and to bravely face a dark and different world. These words help us remember or grieve; they bolster courage and guard against evil; they help us celebrate and give thanks. This elegant gift book also includes a red ribbon for readers to mark their favorite poems. Poet extraordinaire Joyce Sidman won the Newbery Honor Medal for Dark Emperor and Other Poems of the Night and continues to write poetry for children that has been called "fresh," "inspiring," and "accessible" to her young audience. She is intrigued by the idea of "words of power"—chants and charms that were once believed to have real influence in everyday life. Caldecott Honor-winning Pamela Zagarenski's beautiful art captures a world of emotion and the essence of Sidman's words.

Among the prayers of the Mass that vary from day to day (the propers), the Roman Missal includes an entrance antiphon and communion antiphon. English Proper Chants is a collection of beautiful, simple chant settings for these antiphons, with English texts, for all of the Sundays and solemnities of the liturgical year. The project's composer John Ainslie, an internationally respected liturgist and musician, believes that chant is a musical idiom that continues to have an important (but not exclusive) role in the Catholic liturgy. English Proper Chants reflects his conviction that the use of chant in English requires sensitive handling in order to respect and reflect the particular rhythms of the language. Both melody (5-line modern notation) and accompaniment editions are available. The accompaniment edition is printed in a convenient, coil-bound format that allows it to lie flat on music stands, while the melody edition is perfect-bound (paperback). Indices of antiphons and of psalms are included in each. Pagination is identical in both editions for easy combined use. Purchase includes permission to reprint antiphon texts and music from melody edition on one-time copies (e.g., newsletters) for congregational use.
