Excerpt from Catalogue of the Sacramento Free Public Library by Authors and Titles: Short Titles Rule 2. No person shall be entitled to the use of the books in this Library, or to draw books therefrom, except on a permit issued by a member Of the Board of City Trustees, or a member of the Board of Library Trustees. Rule 3. Persons desiring to read or draw a book from the Library Shall examine the catalogue; after making a selection, the applicant shall write upon a card the sec tion, shelf, and number of the book; also their name, present place of residence, and number. Persons sending for a book must in all cases send their permit. Rule 4. Works of fiction which have been in the Library over three months may be retained two weeks; other books three weeks Books in this class may be drawn two consecutive terms upon return and renewal. In no case shall books be loaned. The same book may be drawn only two consecutive terms by members of the same family.
