One rainy Saturday evening, Toko's dog Lucky begins to bark. Toko goes outside to see what is wrong. She hears meowing, and realises that it is the sound of kittens, who have been washed into a drainpipe by the rain. Toko rushes to fetch her father, who manages to free the kittens from the drainpipe. They are lovely black and white kittens with shiny fur. Toko takes the kittens inside, and she and her dog Lucky spend the whole day looking after the kittens. The next day, when Toko goes to school she sees a notice announcing the lost kittens and offering a reward. So Toko goes to the headmaster, and tells him the story. She receives praise from everyone for the care she has shown towards the animals. As well as winning the reward money, she is allowed to keep one of the kittens for herself. This book is for children from 4 to 7 years old.

Do you remember the 1980s animated classic All Dogs Go to Heaven? To some, it's a simple cartoon, but among the millions of devoted pet owners out there, the film's premise-the goings-on among animals in the afterlife-resonates strongly. Do wild animals have immortal souls? Will we see our household pets in the hereafter? In Will Dogs Chase Cats in Heaven?, Dan Story, a graduate school-trained Christian apologist, offers a resounding "Yes!" But don't just take his word for it. Dan does far more than wax sentimental about our furry friends. His unique style pairs anecdotal experience with animal-behavior studies and biblical commentary. In fact, Dan's conclusions are backed by an impressive list of references-from Dinesh D'Souza to Martin Luther. Academics and theologians both ancient and modern have long discussed the validity of an animal resurrection, and Dan's new book puts it all together in a delightfully cogent yet readable way. Most importantly, Will Dogs Chase Cats in Heaven? tells us something about the nature of God: his eye truly is on the sparrow, and his overwhelming love for all creation is perhaps best reflected in the significance he places not just on man-but also man's best friend.

Just when you thought you knew all there was to know about cats comes the ultimate—and unexpected—guide to taking your cat into the wild. Here are cats walking on a leash. Cats hiking on a leash. Cats tramping through snow. Cats camping. Cats kayaking, canoeing, even surfing—yes, cats who love water. When animal writer and active hiker Laura Moss couldn’t find an online resource for hitting the trail with her cat, she created one. AdventureCats.org took off like wildfire, with attention from Wired, the Huffington Post, Outside magazine, BuzzFeed, and much more. Now, the book Adventure Cats—a collection of jaw-dropping photographs, inspiring stories of real-life cats, and all the how-to a cat owner needs—will take readers and their cats well beyond the backyard. Learn how to leash-train a cat. What to do if you encounter wildlife on the trail. Plus, winter safety tips, and how to bring a little bit of the outdoors to an indoor cat. The stories themselves are catnip for animal lovers, from Nanakuli, the one-eyed cat who hangs ten; to Georgie, a four-year-old gray tabby who lives on a sailboat; to Quandary, who not only insists on hiking with her family but also teaches them a valuable lesson: When you follow your cat’s natural tendency to wander, you experience the outdoors at a slower, richer pace. This book will delight every cat person, regardless of whether their pet is inclined to adventure. (Take the quiz at the beginning of the book to find out!)

Introduction to the Taxometric Method is a user-friendly, practical guide to taxometric research. Drawing from both classic and contemporary research, it provides a comprehensive introduction to the method. With helpful tools and guidance, the book is intended to teach those new to the method, as well as those already familiar with it, tips on how to conduct and evaluate taxometric investigations. The book covers a broad range of analytic techniques, describing their logic and implementation as well as what is known about their performance from systematic study. The book opens with the background material essential to understanding the research problems that the taxometric method addresses. The authors then explain the data requirements of taxometric analysis, the logic of each procedure, factors that can influence results and lead to misinterpretations, suggestions for choosing the best procedures, and methodological safeguards to prevent erroneous conclusions. Illustrative examples of each procedure and consistency test demonstrate how to perform analyses and interpret results using a variety of data sets. A checklist of conceptual and methodological issues that should be addressed in any investigation is included. The downloadable resources provide a variety of programs for performing taxometric analyses along with simulations and analyses of data sets. Introduction to the Taxometric Method is ideal for researchers and students conducting or evaluating taxometric studies in the social and behavioral sciences, especially those in clinical and personality psychology, as well as those in the physical sciences, education, biology, and beyond. The book also serves as a text for courses on this method, or as a supplement in psychological assessment, statistics, or research methods courses. Familiarity with taxometrics is not assumed.
