Kipling Harris dreams of proving himself without his wealthy father's help. He's well on his way, two thousand miles from home, when an opportunity returns him to Seaside Pointe. Harris Development is Kip's if he finds peace with returning to small-town living and his father's side after seven years away. Kip and Chloe are the latest in a generations-long feud. While the romance stands alone, the plot continues in the following novels releasing throughout the remainder of 2021.

Frederick Merrick White (1859-1935) was a pioneer in many fields -- the spy story, the detective story, and most especially the epic disaster story. His "Doom of London" series (1903), consisting of six tales in which various catastrophes beset London (including diphtheria, killer smog, and a devastanzing freeze), proved quite popular. Included in this volume are all six "Doom of London" stories, plus 9 more tales: THE FOUR WHITE DAYS (1903) THE FOUR DAYS' NIGHT (1903) THE DUST OF DEATH (1903) A BUBBLE BURST (1903) THE INVISIBLE FORCE (1903) THE RIVER OF DEATH (1903) THE ISLAND OF SHADOWS (1892) A GOLDEN ARGOSY (1886) NABOTH’S VINEYARD (1889) THE CARDINAL MOTH (1905) THE CRIMSON BLIND (1905) THE SLAVE OF SILENCE (1906) THE WEIGHT OF THE CROWN (1906) THE FIVE KNOTS (1908) THE MYSTERY OF THE FOUR FINGERS (1908) HARD PRESSED (1910) If you enjoy this book, search your favorite ebook store for "Wildside Press Megapack" to see the 150+ entries in the Megapack series, covering science fiction, fantasy, horror, mysteries, westerns, classics, adventure stories, and much, much more!

David Steel followed his guide with the feelings of the man who has given himself over to circumstances. There was a savour of nightmare about the whole thing that appealed distinctly to his imagination. The darkness, the strange situation, the vivid streaks of the crimson blinds--the crimson blind that seemed an integral part of the mystery--all served to stimulate him. The tragic note was deepened by the whine and howling of the dogs.

From the Franz Kafka Prize–winning author of Lenin’s Kiss, a “stupendous and unforgettable” novel of Mao’s China (The Times, London). In the ninety-ninth district of a re-education compound, freethinking artists and academics are detained to strengthen their loyalty to Communist ideologies. Here, the Musician and her lover, the Scholar, along with the Author and the Theologian, are subjected to grinding physical labor. They are also encouraged to inform on each other’s dissident behavior—for the prize of a chance at freedom. Their preadolescent supervisor, the Child, delights in reward systems and excessive punishments. But when agricultural and industrial production quotas are raised to an unattainable level, the ninety-ninth district dissolves into lawlessness. As inclement weather and famine set in, the people are abandoned by the regime and left alone to survive. Set inside a labor camp during Mao’s Great Leap Forward, Booklist calls The Four Books a “rich and complex novel,” from “China’s most heralded and censored modern writer” (The South China Morning Post).
