A fling seems like the perfect salve for their shattered hearts, and desperate to move on, they agree it’s worth a try. But as it turns out, they are both terrible at flings. And what happens when they start falling (not into a fiery mountain, thankfully) for each other? Follow Lydia and Scott on their mostly epic, steam-free quest for love. Filled with witty banter, heartwarming friendship, and all the geeky moments you could ask for, One Fling to Rule Them All is the perfect journey for the armchair adventurer in all of us. "Full of invention and ingenuity . . . Great fun." - SFX on Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City This is the history of how the City was saved, by Notker the professional liar, written down because eventually the truth always seeps through. The City may be under siege, but everyone still has to make a living. Take Notker, the acclaimed playwright, actor, and impresario. Nobody works harder, even when he's not working. Thankfully, it turns out that people enjoy the theater just as much when there are big rocks falling out of the sky. But Notker is a man of many talents, and all the world is, apparently, a stage. It seems that the empire needs him -- or someone who looks a lot like him -- for a role that will call for the performance of a lifetime. At least it will guarantee fame, fortune, and immortality. If it doesn't kill him first. In the follow up to the acclaimed Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City, K. J. Parker has created one of fantasy's greatest heroes, and he might even get away with it. To Rule Jerusalem is a historical and ethnographic account of the twentieth-century struggle for Jerusalem. The volume examines how Jerusalem is doubly divided. On the one hand conflict exists between Israelis and Palestinians, each of whom ground their national identities in the city. On the other, conflict exists within each nation, between Zionism and Judaism on one side and between Palestinian nationalism and Islam on the other. Based on hundreds of interviews this book evokes the ways in which these conflicts are experienced and managed in the life of the city.

Cognitive Developmental Change makes a fascinating contribution to the fields of developmental, cognitive and educational science by bringing together a uniquely diverse range of perspectives for analysing the dynamics of change. Connecting traditional Piagetian, information processing, and psychometric approaches with newer frameworks for the analysis of developmental change it provides the reader with an account of the latest theory and research at the time of publication. The contributors to the volume, all internationally respected experts, were asked when writing to consider three main aspects of cognitive change. Its object (what changes in the mind during development), its nature (how does change occur?) and its causes (why does change occur? Or, what are the internal and external factors responsible for cognitive change?). As a result chapters cover key theories of cognitive change, the factors that affect change including neurological, emotional and socio-cultural factors and methods for measuring and modelling change.

The notion of artificial intelligence (AI) often sparks thoughts of characters from science fiction, such as the Terminator and HAL 9000. While these two artificial entities do not exist, the algorithms of AI have been able to address many real issues, from performing medical diagnoses to navigating difficult terrain to monitoring possible failures

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1, KJV). After God created everything and saw that it was pleasing to him, he wanted a human being to rule, so he created man in his own likeness and image. And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:26–28, KJV) When God made man in his image and likeness, his preconceived idea was good. There was nothing evil in the mind of God. One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11 because God has good thoughts toward his created being from the very beginning of time. “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you,” saith the Lord, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11, KJV) He wants mankind to know exactly how he wants them to rule, so he gives us a peak preview of what was in his mind. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7, KJV) God also wanted mankind to have dominion over his creation, so he created Adam and then breathed the breath of life in him. He then gave him authority to rule over his beautiful creation. Adam had every privilege known unto man as long as he submitted to God’s authority. With that authority, though, Adam was given specific instructions, which he could not violate. In other words, he could not cross certain boundaries. We, too, as children of God, have boundaries. How do we know? The Word of God is our manual to life. God cares about us too much to leave us without instructions. And the Lord God commanded the man saying, “Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:16, 17, KJV) Although God is the supreme being and ruler of the universe, he chooses to share a part of his authority with us. Remember, from the beginning of time, we were created to rule.
