This guide, in English and Spanish, presents ideas for parents to assist their child's progress at school. The contents include ten sections on the following topics: (1) getting started (the importance of attendance and health requirements); (2) report cards; (3) scheduling study time and developing study skills; (4) talking to the teacher; (5) what the child should be learning (instructional objectives); (6) how to assist children when the parent works; (7) using the library; (8) types of tests children might be given in school; (9) planning for the future; and (10) diet and its effect on grades. A comic strip and worksheets to help students keep good study habits and achieve goals are included. (KH)
