Fowler--Resolved, That it is hereby referred to the Water Committee to make the necessary enquiry of those duly authorised on behalf of the Williamsburg Water Works Co., of the terms and conditions on which said Company proposes to sell its interests, property and effects, and report the same in writing to the Common Council for its consideration, with a specification of what said Company offers for sale.--Adopted. ' Dear Sir; In reply to your inquiry I state that no application has ever been made, to my knowledge, by or from the City of Brooklyn, or any of its officers, to purchase the water rights and franchises of this Company. Individuals, who are understood to have been negociating with Brooklyn for furnishing it a supply of water, have suggested to this Company a desire to purchase them out, but I am not aware that these suggestions have resulted in any definite or fixed arrangement.
